This neat little page lists the origins of the names of all 649 Pokemon. Some are obvious, but some are quite interesting. The rest of the site is good also.

If you see one that goes against what you thought it was, post a comparison between the two.

Mine: Giratina

What I thought:
giraffe - A large African mammal

Actually:
girasol - a red opal
platina - an alloy of platinum, the game of which it is the mascot

Don't ask how I got giraffe, because even I don't know. I guess because Giratina is tall.

PS. To find good definitions, start a Google search with define:, then put the word you need a definition of.

I thought Unfezant was a play on the word 'unpleasant'. Otherwise I knew basically all the others except Riolu and Lucario.
