SCROOGE MCDUCK!!!

This looks to be capturing the essence (at least graphically) of the original Illusion games perfectly! :D Consider me hyped!

Wait, there'll be a 3DS side-scrolling version of Epic Mickey 2? I was completely unaware of this and if it is in any way like Castle of Illusion, I'll have to pick it up. And no, it's not an early April's Fool joke or something. Now if only they could include Castle of Illusion as an unlockable in the game...

I clicked on this thread thinking that the 3DS version was just going to be a downgraded port of the console version (like the Skylanders game). But oh how wrong I was!

I took one look at the screeenshot, and wave of nostalgia hit me. I love all the classic Mickey games on the Genesis, so this is right up my alley. I wish this version was on the consoles.

It does look pretty good, but reading that article one thing bothered me.

It makes heavy use of the 3DS stylus.
Why can't it just use the controls? I like Henry Hatsworth which is apparently made from the same developers as this new game, but the one thing that I didn't like was having to keep switching between the controls and the stylus(pause game, switch; pause game, switch back). I like the old 2D platformers on the Genesis(obviously including the Mickey games) so I'll keep an eye out on this new game, I'm glad these 2D games aren't dead.

Now this looks like something I'd be really interested in, disappointed in the Wii version. Any release date?

Doth my eyes deceive me?! Mickey in amazing 2D?! Pinch me I'm dreaming! @_@

*ouch!*

Well anyway, I'll list this right next to Aliens: Infestation under "Sidescrolling games I never thought would REALLY happen this modern gen."

I believe the EU release date is currently 28th September of this year IIRC, and I suspect the NA date will be very close, if not the same week.

I'm hoping they'll have alternative control schemes for those of us who just want to use the circle/d-pad and buttons.

Heh, when I first heard about a 3DS version I also thought 'Great, a crappy port of it's console brothers' but it looks like it's going to share the Epic name only. I guess Oswald may be playable as well, since he will be in the console versions.

From the first details emerging it looks like it will be a true continuation of the Illusion series! :D

Well, who's played it so far? I bought it on day one (last Sunday, which happens to be Mickey's birthday, btw), but haven't gotten around to playing it yet. I did get a $5 rebate on the game for buying it on day one at EBGames, and I even managed to snag an Oswald felt hat, which was offered as a pre-order bonus.

This game looks cool, but I just can't see myself paying full price for it. I'll be waiting till I get this for $15.

yeah, it's going to be a long wait...

I know what you mean. I don't mind games that use the stylus mainly, or they stylus and d-pad, but when games expect you to juggle the stylus in your hand while also using the regular buttons for other things, that gets a little frustrating.

I couldn't give a poo about the major console release of epic Mickey 2, but this definitely looks cool. It's on my Christmas list. Castle of illusion is such a great game, and I'm willing to throw money at anyone willing to reboot that series.

Played the demo and was unimpressed. The Disney character cameos seem forced and the story is just so trite. I still want to give it a more serious chance, but I won't be picking this one up until it goes way down in price.
