So I've been looking for this game for a couple years now and by chance I was browsing the Seattle area Craigslist and saw an ad for someone selling a big SNES lot. I don't necessarily want/need the entire lot but would love to get Mega Man 7 from the seller. What's a fair offer for this game these days? I've seen it go from $20 with a damaged label up to $50 for a clean, loose cart. Any input or opinions would be helpful. Hopefully I can finally bring this game home.

The rarity guide lists it at $20 loose. I find the guide a little low, so I think $20-$25 is fair.

I was just dealing with a guy who wanted $40 each for 5 and 6, loose. :(

What else is in the lot and what's the asking price for everything? You can always sell the games you don't want here or you might get someone to go in with you in exchange for you shipping them the games you don't want. Someone here bought a Famicom lot of craigslist a couple years back but didn't want everything and I ended up sending him the money for half the lot and he mailed me the games out of it we agreed to split.

Somewhere inbetween $40 and $80. The seller isn't likely to give you the game for either of those prices tho considering he wants $500 for the lot and the only other expensive titles are Chrono Trigger and Demon's Crest ($50 and $40, if you were wondering values). The whole lot is worth, on the high end, $300 (again, that's real high end, closer to reality would be $250 or so).

[edit: Missed he has a CIB SNES as well, so add another $50~100.]

There's the link for the lot. I have all those games minus Mega Man 7 and Demon's Crest. David I definitely agree he's asking high for the lot. For $250 I might be willing to but the lot and attempt to sell off the games I don't want doubles off. Mostly just been chomping at the bit to find and play Mega Man 7 on the SNES. I've found it once before for $50 but I held off trying to find a better deal, and when I went back to get the game, it was sold.

That's my estimate on the high end for pricing, even with the system included $500 is way too much when all the games are loose.

$150 would me my max for that setup. If I want to pay full retail I can get those games any day of the week. Also what's with people wanting premium money and being too lazy to toss up a couple pictures?

I would probably go as high as $200, maybe a little more, and especially depending on which SNES set it is + what the condition is like on everything.

As for not putting up a pic, how about people who don't even bother listing what they have! "$200 for a NES and seven games" might be the worst deal ever or the best. No way to know b/c that's the entirety of the ad!

Like the others have said, you shoud pass on this lot.

First, there are no pictures, so that could create an issue right there.

Second, even if everything is "mint condition" and you pay top dollar for it, when you sell the pieces you don't want, even if you get top dollar for them, you will still be down.

So it would end up costing you somewhere around $200 to $300 for the 1 game you are looking for (not including the time). There are probably better, and by that I mean cheaper, ways to find your game.

My buddy wrote to him and asked him where he got his prices from. Here is his reply:

Well if you were to buy these games on ebay, with the condition they are in, especially Chrono trigger, Megaman 7 and Demons crest, witht the complete SNES in box like new, with game genie complete - the retail price would be about 400-450....

Add the cost youd have to spend on shipping, and the fact I want to make a profit...

Thats how. And the fact Ive sold about 20 snes lots in the past few years...and this will sell too...

Sean

He admits he's overpriced but he want "to make a profit." Great way to get business! LOL

Wow. Cocky fellow isn't he?

Those are the people I just leave to their own devices. They obviously have no love for the hobby, just making a buck.

Yeah seeing a CL like that too often anymore, I wouldn't have even bothered contacting them.

But as far as pictures, hell most people cant even seem to be bothered to even list games anymore, its 25 games for sale contact me for list. Um no you lazy git, take 5 seconds type it up and post it, 90% of this crap are sports/redneck games/racing and loose as it is, don't waste my time.

So this is what I'd be competing with if I list the stuff that hasn't sold yet on craigslist? My games are almost all CIB so I bet I'd be great competition for guys like these. Selling CIB games for the prices that other guys are trying to sell cart only for...

At least they still offered to provide a list, I've seen several posts that just mention the number of games and outright say don't ask for a game list as it takes too long.

Some dude replied to an ad of mine asking if I'd accept N64 games in trade, I said I would consider them but it would depend on the games. He told me to send him a list of what I was looking for and he would let me know if he had any. This was just lazy, I wasn't really looking for any N64 games so all I mentioned was Ogre Battle 64 to end the time wasting there. Not surprisingly I never heard back.

Hi,

So I am the "Cocky" poster of this craigslist ad. I do not have Megaman 7 anymore, I sold it, along with Chrono Trigger, Starfox and Demons crest for 200$ the other day. Thats 200$ for 4 games, so I think some of you are a little out of the loop on the current value lists for SNES games. Since 2009 I have noticed a lot of the cart prices have shot up. Id say 40-80$ is more accurate for Megaman 7, like someone recently posted.

But I also got a bunch of new games and posted a new lot which can be seen here.

http://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/vgm/2937135780.html

Which includes the following: (and I will always provide pix)...

SNES Complete with Box and Manuals/Inserts/Packaging Materials - Like New
Great Shape - 2 Controllers, all necessary chords. Works great!

+ Game Genie, in box complete with manual!
-------------------------------------------

+++ The following games (all collectors quality, 9/10 or better)

Super Mario World - Complete with Strategy guide (great condition) / + 2nd copy of Super Mario World
Super Mario Kart
Super Mario Rpg
Chrono Trigger
Megaman X
Megaman X2
Secret of Mana
Demons Crest
Castlevania 4
Castlevania Dracula X
Final Fantasy III aka Final Fantasy 6 + Strategy Guide (great condition) / Map / and Manual
Legend of Zelda A Link to The Past
Street Fighter 2 Turbo + 2nd copy of Sf2turbo
Super Metroid
Sparkster
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Turtles in Time
Super Double Dragon
Breath of Fire
Breath of Fire 2
Contra 3 - Complete with box and Manual
Lion King
Primal Rage - Complete with Box and Manual - Like New
Pilot Wings - Complete with Box and Manual - Like New

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think its funny someone linked me to this forum, and you guys are all arguing about my prices or what not. If you dont like them, nobody is forcing you to purchase anything I am putting on craigslist. If you are just trying to help the poster of this thread, thats okay. But 20$ for megaman 7? That is absurd.

I have bought and sold SNES games for many years, I always make a profit. I have sold many large lots like this, and loose rare carts. I know what I am doing. Someone didnt have to link me here, but thanks anyway. Oh also someone said I am just interested in making a buck, and not a true fan or collector or what have you, far from the truth. I grew up with SNES, ive played every single one of these games, and I keep the best carts for myself.

Regards
Sean

I am currently in school full time. I make extra pocket money doing graphic design (http://seanmichael.deviantart.com/gallery) ---shameless plug, and by flipping SNES lots, for a profit.

Heres another lot I recently sold: 4900

I dont see the big problem with me making a profit. And I dont see why so many people feel the need to email me saying my stuff is overpriced. My stuff ALWAYS sells for around the price I want to sell it for. Like I said nobody is forcing anyone to buy from me.

No one here would argue that the four games you listed could be sold for $200. It's the REST of the fuckin' ad that is overpriced. Do you still not understand? The rest of what was in that ad is not $300. And it's not in any of our interest to pay Ebay prices and go drive to you when we can sit on our asses and pay Ebay prices FROM EBAY and have the games delivered to our door. Duh. Just b/c some people don't have access to Ebay (due to lack of credit card or whatever) doesn't mean you are magically selling your games for a fair amount.

Craigslist is a yard sale. You are treating it like it is Ebay. You are one of the people who have ruined Craigslist. Pat yourself on the back for destroying a once great resource for finding actual deals. Good job!

Seansy00
04-03-2012, 05:44 PM
Im sure the SNES in box and the other games I had could easily bring in another 250 bux. I added 50 $ as I noted for profit.

The hostility here is amusing.

:onfire::onfire::onfire::onfire::onfire::onfire::o nfire::onfire:

Craigslist has always been used for deals, anyone trying to make extra cash, freebies etc. Its setup as a free place to put items up, not a bargain bin 24/7.....come on now.

Im sorry your CL dreams were crushed.

ROFL Yes, people are on Cl just to give you profit. "I buy things off Ebay at the going rate and then sell them on CL for twice as much. For profit." Why don't you go buy a $1 can of beans and try to sell it for $2 while you're at it? Glad you are getting a kick out of showing everyone what a greed stupid ugly fuck you are. Again, pat yourself on the back. WINNING and all that.

Not everyone likes ebay. Ebay has screwed me over tons of times. Items not showing up, etc. Some people like the convenience of being able to come see the items in person and pick them up that day.

Youre being ridiculous. You need to go grab a coke and a smile. You are the definition of an angry video game nerd.

I can tell from your lack of rational thinking (not to mention proper punctuation and spelling) that those college classes are doing wonders for you.

What part of "overcharging is greedy" don't you get? Every sale I make, I earn a profit, and everything I sell is below market value. I don't think you're both greedy AND stupid for being a reseller, I think you're greedy for overcharging and stupid for buying things at market value just to sell them for even more. Might want to take some classes in business (and critical thinking) while you're at that college.

Lots of LOL in this thread.

The Craigslist guy is silly for expecting above eBay prices without providing the warranty and other safeguards that eBay provides for their buyers. However, if people are misinformed to the extent of paying his higher prices, I can't hold him at fault for overcharging. If someone is willing to pay me $5 for a $1 trinket, I'll happily take their five dollars and go on about my business. His local market will apparently pay his inflated prices and he shouldn't be blamed for exploiting that.

However, I also agree with the notion that Craigslist is not the place to go for retail prices. It's not a retail outlet 99% of the time (exception being dealer advertisements). Imo, the natural progression of how prices should go:

Retail store -> eBay -> Craigslist / Flea Market -> Yard Sale

Of course, if someone can successfully charge retail or eBay at any of the lower levels, more power to them. If you have a problem with the inflated reseller ads, I simply suggest that you flag them. That's what I do for ads in my local area. While I personally wouldn't pursue this guy's way of profit making (his ROI is too low imo), it's not my place to call him out for investing his money as he wishes. Yea, he's greedy, but most of us are. This thread is a prime example.

He wants an overinflated amount for merchandise. Some people here believe he should only charge below market so they can get a deal. Both are examples of greed. Just laugh at whomever is silly enough to pay his prices and move along. No reason to get into a pissing match over other people's money.
