Games that people either love, or hate.

What are some games that you find people either absolutely love, or totally hate. I'm talking about games that you never hear or read anyone giving middle of the road reviews of.

I don't know many people who are 'on the fence' with Rez, or Child of Eden either for that matter. People who hate these games usually have the same complaints, that they're short and there's nothing to them, "just on railed shooter that you can end in 30 minutes". I kinda don't think these people understand what the developers were going for. I'm not saying that they would like these games if they did, but I honestly feel that they've failed to 'get it'.

The same with the original three Silent Hill games, and the Fatal Frame series, and Myst too. Lots of love and hate, but very little 'meh'.

Pretty spot on answers so far from what I remember hearing from people. Especially Space Giraffe! The only ones listed I don't hear many polarizing views on are Daytona USA, and Cruisin' USA. I've honesty never heard anyone hating on either of those games (or really praising them highly, either). Well, besides the PlayStation fanboys years ago who ragged on every Saturn game, but I don't really count the old console wars stuff.

This was the first thing I thought of. In fact, I own both of them and I'm not even sure I like them.

I'd imagine the entire Dance Dance Revolution series falls under 'love' or 'hate'. Either you want to boogie down on the dance floor or you think it's not for you.

Its quite divisive but I think Blue stinger is frick'in awesome. I never understood the hate. My friend and I bought it at launch and had a blast with it.

We loved it because it seemed to parody the entire survival horror genre, but managed to carry a fairly innovative game beneth the surface.

It was like resident evil, meets zelda and injected with akward comedy. What's not to like about killing zombies and have them explode into a shower of money to further finance your arsenal?

I didn't even know what sort of game it was, but what you've described sounds awesome. I'm pretty sure I own a copy of it. I haven't turned on the Dreamcast in years (other than to check which selector channel it was on), but I think I'll fire it up next month.

Hated hated hated hated hated! Blue Stinger.


Shenmue. One of my fave series.
Final Fantasy XII. I love it as my fave in the series but some people loath it. I also seen others like me love it.
Fragile Dreams is another. I love it. It's true the combat sucks but the story and setting is so touching.
Sonic Heroes. I can't stand it but seen some who say it's a fave of theirs.
Star Fox Adventures. I like it but can see why man don't.\
Donkey Kong 64. Big let down for me. Some love it some don't
Final Zone. unpiloshed mech shooter but I had fun.
Ys III. Often considered the black sheep. Many do not like it many do. I love it
Indigo Prophecy. Easily the worst game I have ever played.
