Does the Everdrive MD or Mega Everdrive work on Retrobit's RetroGen adapter for the SNES/SFC? All I could find by googling is that it doesn't work with a Genesis Portable device also called the RetroGen. Given that the two are vastly different I'm not sure what to think. Confusing to say the least. Can anyone verify?

Don't know, but its not supported so I wouldn't suggest it. Not because it will break the EverDrive, but because not a good idea to buy an expensive item to use on something that's not supported. If you got the cash to buy an EverDrive then you probably have the cash to find a $10 - $20 Genesis. KRIKzz designs the EverDrives around original unmodified hardware only. I don't know the internals of the adapter, but if it uses software emulation similar to AtGames Firecore-based clones then it will not work.

I am surprised you couldn't find something though. That would be first thing I tried if I had both just out of curiosity.

Of course I own a Genesis. In fact, I own a CDX. I'm asking because the RetroGen adapter produces a much cleaner and overall better image than the real Genesis hardware and it also allows me to use an SNES controller, not to mention not having to hook up the Genesis.

The RetroGen is much better than any of the Firecore clones.

Hey satoshi_matrix don't mean to get off subject but how's the video coming?

what video? lol I've been so busy lately that I have completely forgotten about any promises to make any specific videos. Do you mean a video review for the RetroGen? Yeah, I can put one up pretty soon.

There's no software emulation here. The RetroGen Adapter runs on the same TCT-6801 GOAC found in the RetroN3. GOAC clones are completely different beasts compared to their shoddy software emulated counterparts made by AtGames.

And about the EverDrive on the RetroGen Adapter: I don't know about the Mega EverDrive, but someone on Sega-16 got the EverDrive MD to work on the RetroGen Adapter.

Yeah if it uses the GOAC then its a good possibility it will work. I didn't know what hardware was used inside. Since they used the RetroGen name which was originally the AtGames portable I was unsure.

My point about not suggesting it is just because its not supported. So who knows? An update in future for either ED-MD or MegaED could cause it not to work. As long as you aren't buying with the assumption it will always work on the RetroGen adapter then I don't see the problem. I just didn't want people buying it for a clone and then find out it doesn't work or a future update causes it not to work.

Its cool that it does work though.

Do you sell labels for the Mega Everdrive? If I get one, I'll be pcb only and require drilling out a case, but I'll still need a label.

As far as I know I am the only one who has got labels created. Maybe some other re-sellers will eventually I don't know. I think most of the other re-sellers just print on a laser or ink-jet printer and cut by hand. Whereas ours our professionally printed and die-cut by a label printing company.

Its not cheap to get labels created for something like this, have to get custom die made and then have to order labels and most good companies that do label printing are not going to print you up 50 or 100 at a time. You have to order in thousands.

Well, you could recoup some of that cost by selling the labels, y'know!

I want to keep them exclusive to Deluxe Editions only. I wasn't complaining about the cost, I was stating why other re-sellers may not do it.

Is that a fact? My Genesis Model 1 via rgb scart outputs a better image then my Snes via rgb scart on a Sony Wega Tube. How is it possible that the retrogen produces a much cleaner and overall better image than the real Genesis hardware?

Hey bro, when are those Mega Everdrive De's going to be re-stocked?

They haven't been in stock yet. We just started making them today. First to be filled is pre-orders. Once those are filled then we will put some in stock.

Can I pre-order?

No. Pre-orders were complete weeks ago. We only allowed a limited amount to be pre-ordered.

It's a fact when it comes to the overall quality of the Composite video between a Genesis and the RetroGen Adapter. Of course, nothing running in Composite compares to a Genesis running in RGB. RGB is a much better video signal, so it's obvious a Genesis running in RGB will look better than anything running in Composite, but when it comes to the overall quality of the Composite video, the RetroGen Adapter beats out all original hardware (the Genesis Model 1 does come a very close second, though, as its Composite is like that of the RetroGen Adapter, but blurrier).
