My modded PC-Engine GT (showing off)

I've recently had some work done on my PC Engine GT

The purpose of this thread is to show off :D

I've had the following work done:


Full cap replacement
switchless region mod - to use JP games, just turn the game on regularly - to use NA games, hold select as you power on
regular PCE GT screen replaced with a (significantly larger) LCD screen - the quality of the new screen is amazing. It simply can't compare. The battery life is much better too :)
the headphone port now has an AV output - it can output to a TV screen using AV cables

All of the work has been done by the guys at the pcenginfefx.com forums (BlueBMW and thesteve) and they did incredible work! I think that BlueBMW installed a region mod created by thesteve, but I'm not 100% sure.

To compare - I actually made a video about the old screen in this GT - the quality was pretty poor and I thought there was something wrong with it (turns out there wasn't)

OK, I always thought that it wasn't possible to replace the screen. People say the same with the Game Gear. How was it done?

No idea. I just sent it off, paid via paypal and it was magically done. I think the guys at the pcenginefx forums can use black magic or something.

It's nice because you can actually see all the small bullets in shooters and can read the text/passwords in Neutopia :)

Here's a pic of the AV out. It outputs via the headphone port. The headphone port still works as a regular headphone port. I can't see myself using this frequently, but it is kinda neat.

Well, I paid about $100 for the cap replacement, switchless region mod and to have a region mod installed in my coregrafx.

I paid another 80 or so for the new screen and AV out.

So about 200 total. Money well spent I think :)

Awesome work.

You actually can replace the GG screen, but as of now, SMS games are full screen instead of shrunk to fit the GG screen and GG games show up in the center of screen. So, it defeats the purpose of having a bigger screen for GG games. Basically, replacing the screen is the same as doing a GG to TV mod as it would appear on a TV.
