Original Xbox scratching disc

I was playing the other night, when, all of a sudden, I heard what sounded like the laser rubbing the disc. I took the disc out and sure enough, there were some slight scratches on it.

I put in a couple of other discs to see if they had the same problem, but they didn't.

I put the game I was playing (which is PGR2) back in and it loads up fine. When I go to load the track up, it brings up the message that the game may be dirty or damaged. (The one thing I didn't try to see if it really is the scratches or not is a different track. I guess I'll potentially find out the answer to that tonight).

So what could be the issue here? I'm guessing something with the laser, maybe the laser going out, but like I mentioned, right now the issue is with just one particular game.

If it's only that game, perhaps a warped/damaged game to begin with? Thats the only thing I can think off.

I've been playing this game off and on since around last October, so I'm guessing if it was a disc abnormality it would have shown up by now.

I just tried a different class and it works, so I it looks like it is the scratch that is causing the malfunction (for the area I was trying to play before and when it got damaged.)

I did notice when I tried the game just now that I had 666,000 kudos points. Maybe that is why the Xbox attacked the game! :)

I guess I'll just have to keep an eye out and see how it goes.
