I love GOG.com, so many of the best games from the mid to late 90s and DRM free too.
I'm honestly surprised they're giving away for free their 2nd best selling title, but that just goes to show what a great company they are.

Where did you see the 48-hour thing? They don't actually seem to have made a news post regarding this giveaway.

I do believe GOG.com posted about it lasting for 48 hours on their Facebook page.

It was posted on Twitter, Facebook, and the front page. Plus the forums.
Apparently someone messed up the dates this was supposed to run through, there's one guy who thought it ended on the 8th, but the promo started on the 5th...

It'd be for the best, it will allow you to keep up to date with any new deals/games they have happening.

Well, that's why I keep their RSS feed in my reader, along with the steamgamesales.com RSS. But that would not have been enough in this case.
