Ok so sega managed to fit 6 very popular games on one cart. My question is did these games suffer at all for it? All the levels still there? Music still the same?

I doubt this version of sonic 1 can unlock blue spheres with sonic snd knuckles. Maybe I'm wrong?

All the games are intact. It's not like they were that big to begin with.

As for the Sonic & Knuckles thing, I have no idea.

You can do that with any game that isn't compatible with Sonic and Knuckles, it shouldn't just be with Sonic 1. Also Revenge of Shinobi is a later version, I'm not sure if that would matter to you or not.

Sonic 1 lets you play EVERY Blue Sphere stage. Other games just let you play one.

The only difference I can tell between Revenge of Shinobi versions are the amount of licensed character cameos. The version in 6-Pak has Spider-Man, and Godzilla is replaced by a dinosaur skeleton, according to Sega Retro.

I remember my buddy freaking out when he say that shit in my copy (he had the original version).

6-Pak cannot lock on to Sonic and Knuckles.Sure it can, it just doesn't work. ;^)

I've owned a few of these carts and they've all seemed to work just fine

Wow, I had no idea the sega 6 pak is one of many multi-carts released on pal under the name "mega games". I think I've read there were at least 10 volumes. Some were 3 packs though. I'm not sure about the contents of the other volumes but i think that sonic 1/sonic 2/mean bean is one of them.

There aren't 10 of these things. There's the 6 Pak (With a slightly different lineup in PAL land as I recall) and there's Sonic Classics with that lineup of three games that you just mentioned.

And then the Sega CD got some Genesis compilations with some enhancements. Sega Classics 4 in 1 with Columns, Golden Axe, Revenge of Shinobi, and Streets of Rage was a system pack in (With the other disc of the two disc pack inbeing Sherlock Holmes).

Later on, they added Super Monaco GP to that lineup and called it Sega Classics 5 in 1 (and replaced Sherlock Holmes on the second disc with another Genesis game, Ecco the Dolphin, which also saw a standalone release on the Sega CD).

Edit - Doing what I should've done in the first place, I checked the rarity guide. And sure enough, you're partially right. Several Mega Games compilations in Europe, although just three different game lineups with the other 3 being combinations of 2 of those.

Mega Games 1 (Columns, Super Hang-On, and World Championship Soccer; Released as Triple Score here in North America)
Mega Games 2 (Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, and Revenge of Shinobi)
Mega Games 3 (Alien Storm, Super Monaco GP, and Super Thunder Blade)
Mega Games 6 (Mega Games 1 & 2 combined; Euro equivalent to our Sega 6 Pak with Sonic killed in favor of World Championship Soccer)
Mega Games 6 Vol. 2 (Combination of Mega Games 1 and Mega Games 3)
Mega Games 6 Vol. 3 (Combination of Mega Games 1 and Mega Games 2 with Golden Axe killed in favor of Columns)

And Brazil got a release titled Mega Games 10, but the 10 is in reference to the number of Genesis games included on it and isn't a volume number.

Don't know as much about the Genesis (Or I guess I should say Mega Drive) as I thought I did, apparantly.

Classic Collection is a similar PAL set. (Gunstar Heroes, Altered Beast, Flicky, Alex Kidd)

PAL also got Castle of Illusion / Quackshot (later upgraded to Saturn for Japan). As well as various less interesting sets from EA and other companies.

Fun part is both these are region free. If their contained games include JPN text,, not all do, it's been retained here.
