Who here uses their dreamcast for homebrew or emulation. If you don't why not?

That reminds me a full speed TG emulator should be coming out for the dc this summer so maybe I can still play your game.

Brother, I ONLY use my DC for emulation. I know the Dreamcast has some great games, but my emulator discs are the only ones that get played. The NES, SMS, Colecovision and Gameboy emulators all rock.

Burning these discs is allot more complicated than it looks, and if you are using a Mac like me, it's almost impossible. To do it, I need an old Adaptec program you can't even buy anymore, so I just buy them from a "dealer" of mine. I can put you in touch with him if you want, but chances are someone here can probably hook you up.

Actually burning one of these babies is pretty easy on a regular pc. If you need any help burning I'm here. I would send you one but, right now I'm low on money and cant even by any cdrs.

I don't, b/c the Xbox emulation is like 1000x better for it. Also, w/ the HD, you just dump your ROMs on there and play instead of reburn the CD/DVD.

There's a new Emulator that will also play games whose ROMS are over 64MB (the physical memory in the Xbox) that were previously unplayable.

My Xbox is an emulation machine. I mainly use it to play those forgotten arcade games with MAMEoX though.

I have in the past (mainly Genny, some NES), but not exclusively. That controller just doesn't sit well with me.

I'd love to use my Xbox, but the fear of modding it and destroying my Xbox Live account keeps me from doing so.

There is a new mod chip that allows you to chip and not destroy your account. I has an off and on switch.

The one thing the Xbox doesn't have is Atari 5200/8bit emulation. For that, the Dreamcast is still king. So I pretty much use my DC for that.. Atari 5200 games. :D

I really want to get a Xbox now since I've heard how well it's SNES and MAME emulators run, but there is no way I'm going to crack that thing open and risk damaging it. Is there someplace where I can buy an Xbox already moded with some emulator discs? Hell, I'd pay someone here to do it for me if anyone knows how. I just want to play those SNES and MAME emulators real bad!

I'll be buying an Xbox pretty soon. Then once I get home I'm opening it and installing a mod chip.

I've heard good things about system-mods.com or modchipman.com as far as "pre-mods" go, although I wouldn't know anything about it personally. You can check probably check here for ratings though

Thanks, NE1! That is EXACTLY the kind of info I was looking for! Now I gotta find someone to score the emulator discs from and I'll be set ;)

Guys -- modding your Xbox is *EASY*. I'd never soldered in my life. I bought the chip, the soldeirng equipment, and a "learn to solder" guide. Went through tthe guide, then followed the more than adequate instructions. It's a piece of cake.

All of the NEW chips have the on/off feature to avoid you losing your Xbox Live account . Just make sure you get a 1.0, 1.1, or 1.2 Xbox ... the new 1.3's can't be modded for the meantime.
