I've mentioned my sealed copy of GTA: Trilogy (Xbox) before. I found it in a bargain bin last year. There are a few small holes in the plastic, and the corner dented. But it is rare to see a sealed copy of this game on eBay.
Of course I understand that sealed games that are also in mint condition are worth more than a sealed game in bad condition. But is there a point where the damage is so bad that being sealed has no effect on the value?

I would say yes, except in the case of a game that's extremely difficult to find sealed AND also extremely difficult to find in nice complete condition...so whereas your dinged up copy represents the best complete packaged version of the game. I don't think that would be the case with GTA: Trilogy which is hard to find, but not rare by that much of a stretch. You might be able to get a little premium for it by listing it as new and unused, but not mint.

While alot of people hate the whole notion of collecting sealed games, I think it's a good long term investment.....if you get them cheap. And by cheap I mean $20 or less, but preferably $10 or less. Now despite saying that, I dont mean for someone to go out and start buying every sealed game they can find for $20 or less. What I mean is that if you regularly buy games but never get around to playing them for an entire gen or more they usually go up in price significantly more than what you bought them for....provided you got them for cheap. Now if you buy all your new games for $60 then no, thats not a good investment. But for examples like the OP used, thats a good way to turn a profit when the game you pick up is in high demand for sealed copies. As for condition, DOAsaturn sumed it up nicely.
