I recently came across (not on) Maxim's search for a Gamer Girl: http://maximgamergirl.com/. What do you gals and guys think of this?

I think it's hilarious that the top girl has a WoW YouTube channel and is bribing her subscribers with a bikini episode if they vote for her.

I think it's retarded, but this is Maxim so I guess that's to be expected.

Man, if I could make money by shaking my nads around in front of a PS3 I would be in heaven.

I think it's insulting to everyone involved. It's a farce for women who play video games when the mainstream attention is effectively only eye candy, and it's insulting to male gamers who aren't controlled solely by their hormones. I'll grant there are a number, but I also would like to think the majority are well balanced people.

I don't like it at all and I will agree with the above statement. I know a lot of gamer girls and they are all normal people. They are trying to turn "gamer girls" into new sex icons....so be it...I know 1 or 2 girl gamers who love all the attention..but most aren't like that at all.

Fetishized jerkoff material that reinforces every negative gamer stereotype

The part that goes over my head every single time is the fact that while I understand the appeal of hot women (always relevant to my interests regardless of topic), I've never been particularly turned on by the gamer girl fetish. In fact, it's something of a minor turn off. I've never had much interest dating within my hobbies. I think it's nice to hook up with people who have different interests. Keeps things fresh.

it is kinda sad but not surprising.
But with all that said.. I hope this girl wins it

Huh. It's amazing what makeup and professional photography can do. She's much better looking in the photo than the video. I'm not saying she's ugly, she just looks real in the video, and like a pin-up poster in the photograph.

It would be funny if whoever wins this turns out to have been born a man, somehow Trump needs to be involved in this contest too. Whoever can afford the best plastic surgery wins the game.

I think she looks better in the video. In the photo, her face looks like it's made of porcelain.

So you get what I'm saying about her looking like a real person in the video. The photo is like, an attractive painting or something. I rarely wear makeup, so I'm just impressed with the difference it can make sometimes.

I think she's a pretty decent looking girl, but so fake looking, with the massive amount of tattoos and makeup. There's a lot of insecurity going on here.

The difference has nothing to do with makeup. What you're seeing in the photo is extreme retouching. I'm a professional retoucher and have been in the industry for nine years. Some art directors ask me to remove flaws and correct photographic shortcomings (for example, if the photographer under-exposed an image or processed a RAW file using the incorrect white balance, etc.).

However, some art directors ask me to manipulate and manipulate an image until it looks nothing like reality (bring her chin in, make her neck thinner, move her eyes down a little, remove the natural folds and wrinkles from her shirt, change the shape of her hair, change the color of her lipstick, comp in the left arm from another photo, etc.). It's sick. At that point, the image becomes a digital painting. I'm not talking about fantasy retouching, I'm talking about photographic retouching. Some art directors go too far, but they're paying me, so I do it.

I'm not exaggerating, every picture you see in a magazine, even if it's just a picture of a cup on a table, has had several rounds of retouching. Nothing is real.

The sad thing is, many people look at those pictures and wonder why their skin, hair, kitchens, or bedrooms don't look as perfect as the ones in magazines.

Modeling is a job. This is a great gateway for people who are looking to get into the business. Even if you lose, you get your face out there. As for what people who look for deeper meanings like degradation and stereotyping, maybe it does, maybe it doesn't. It really isn't for us to decide. I am a guy. I would like to see a pic of who wins. Hell, I'd like to be a judge. That's me being a guy. I say more power to the entrees.

I remember when I was a teenager, there was a singer who posed for playboy in her underwear, and years later I saw the same image, minus the underwear, in one of their 'nudes' books. That pretty much killed my interest in their publications. They may as well just go CG.

I don't have a problem with models or attractive women, I'm just annoyed by the assumptions made by Maxim that gamer girls don't matter beyond their capacity as pin-up fodder for my mancave, and that as a gamer guy I would rather puzzle my reptile brain over who has the best photoshopped rack than hear about women who have contributed to gaming in a very real way.

It's not the end of the world, I'm not going to take to the streets or anything. It's just annoying.

To much ink.

Right now her body is un-paperbagfuckable, but when she turns 40 those demons and pentagrams on her arms are going to look like chocolate easter bunnies in the sun, and rectangles.

HAHA! edited: Just actually watched the video. Gotta love those leg tats. When she's 60 they should blend in with her vericose veins nicely.

Be like fucking a member of the blue man group...at 60.

Why should anyone be shocked that the time proven sex sells formula is being applied to video games?

Agreed. The people at maxim look at this in a business aspect. So do the models. They don't care what anybody else thinks because they know the majority of people will most likely buy the shit out of this.

On another note, when EGM got cancelled, my subscription was replaced with Maxim. I will never EVER knock a magazine that has a DIY section that teaches you how to wire an NES zapper to an alarm clock. The models were always pretty hot too, but seriously, who wouldn't want to wake up in the morning and shoot your alarm with a zapper to make it shut up.

I just find Maxim to be something of a waste of time. A PG-13 Playboy with "attitude" circa 1996. It's not so much that it's bad... It accomplishes what it sets out to do. It just doesn't serve any particular purpose that can't be better served with other outlets.

"Oh no! Aging is making my tats look bad, and the tattoos are ruining my beautiful wrinkles and liver spots! What a disaster!"
Seriously, though, I only take issue with bad tattoos on bodies that I'd actually want to look at.

Neat. Let me know how you look at 40.
Which I will be in a couple weeks. Also I never said I had anything against tat's. What a person does with their own body is their own buisiness. I was just stating my own experience on folks who were 16-28 when they got the full body tat's. And they really look like ass right now.

Hell I think you should get a tat of my balls, that should take you up from ankles to eyebrows...

You will look like a Herb Tarlek suit of blueishgray in 10 years...

Some people decide to live in the moment and enjoy their lives instead of worrying about what they're going to look like in the future.

I think she looks decent as she's currently got it, faded. If you do too much laser surgery it can look bad, right?
