I don't have money right now, amd the only experience I have with Ataris is one time i had an Atari 800 computer but I sold it. Now I kinda wanna get an Atari so which one is best and easiest to hook up to a modern HD tv?

I'm thinking either 2600 or 7800 but I don't know.

To be honest - for just getting into it? An Atari Flashback (a/v 2600 with built in games, no cartridge slot) might be worth looking into. I had the '2' model and it could use the old joysticks and paddles too.

I mean it won't work if you want to collect cartridges, but you said 'modern tv' and without mods, the old ataris are rf only.

I'd suggest the Lynx. The games are cheap and there are very few stinkers.

If you're picking between the 7800 and 2600, I'd suggest the 7800. It can play all 7800 games and almost all 2600 games and it shouldn't cost much more. Not sure which games have compatibility issues other than the Supercharger games.

The Flashback doesn't have enough of the main games the 2600 was known for.

The Lynx and its games are not cheap.

Get a regular 2600, the main games are not expensive. You can likely get a system and many games in a lot.

I also agree with getting a 7800..You get the best of both worlds...Play 7800 games and 2600 games..Kind of a no brainer to me. Although the Lynx is a great system..
