View Full Version : Does anyone else think Star Fox / Star Fox 64 music could have been Zelda music?

It's a given that Koji Kondo wrote the music for the Zelda series as well as Star Fox 64 (but not the original Star Fox game), but occasionally when I'm playing either of the first two Star Fox games, I might for a moment think I'm actually playing a Zelda game.
Tracks that really give me this feeling are the ending theme to the first Star Fox game, as well as several of the boss music tracks from Star Fox 64.
Am I they only person who has ever thought this?

I haven't, but the level in space where you fly through those boulder rings (SNES) has a track that sounds like it would fit in a Zelda game. I haven't played it in a long time, so I can't remember the name of it.
It starts at 2:10 of this video. *Edit That wasn't it, but that sounds like it would fit well. The song at 4:37 sounds more like what I was thinking of.

Yeah that's the map screen music, a variation of which is the end theme for the first game.

Yeah, I just realized that, after I'd posted it. ;)

I never liked the music for Star Fox 64.
The original Star Fox has some of the best videogame music I've ever heard. But it never gave me a sense of being appropriate for a Zelda game. Something like the already cited music for the Asteroid Belt zone doesn't sound at all like it could belong in a Zelda game.
I could see the end music from the original Star Fox working well in a Zelda game though.

I think about it the other way around. When I hear things like the intro music to The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, I think that it could have been a Star Fox 64 track.
