In a post on the PlayStation Blog (http://blog.us.playstation.com/2012/04/19/dragons-crown-update-atlus-assumes-publishing-duties-for-ps-vita-ps3/), Atlus PR manager Aram Jabbari revealed that his company has taken over publishing duties, and now plans to release it in 2013 (Ignition made its own announcement, after the break). This is a reversal of the fate of Muramasa: The Demon Blade, another Vanillaware game, which Ignition acquired (http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/21/muramasa-rights-picked-up-by-ignition-due-in-september/) from another company (XSEED) in 2009.

Atlus is not only publishing it in North America and Japan, internal Atlus staff members are now assisting with the production. The downside to this announcement is that, in Atlus's estimation, "the game simply cannot retail for $29.99." The upside is that, being an Atlus game, it's much more likely to ship with a soundtrack disc now.Continue reading Atlus picks up Dragon's Crown publishing, also assisting with development (http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/19/atlus-picks-up-dragons-crown-publishing-also-assisting-with-de/)

"the game simply cannot retail for $29.99."

So that's why my preorder was cancelled. Atlus can go fuck themselves.

Where did you order from?

I preordered Dragons Crown from Best Buy during one of the many b2g1 deals after launch and am wondering if I'll get a cancel too.

Amazon. The order was recently cancelled and completely removed from the account listings. I guarantee Atlus caught wind of how popular it was for a niche title so bought the license for it so they could help finish it up and charge $59.99 for it.

Uh... No. Ignition, as the original publisher, was the company selling copies of the game to Amazon. Now that Atlus is publishing, the deal Amazon had with Ignition is no longer binding. Therefore, Amazon canceled pre-orders for the distribution deal that is no longer extant to avoid legal hassles. This isn't some fucking conspiracy. It's just business. Ignition isn't even around anymore, and if Atlus has to assist with development on a game that's been in the works for a couple of years just to get it out, its possible that Vanilla Ware is having some trouble making the game work, too.

I know you don't like Atlus, but Jesus Christ. Tin foil hats don't become you, dawgge.

Always thought the game looked good, but wished the animation looked less like Adobe Flash. Still it will probably be a quality title that has a unique art style and fun multiplayer.
