The following are some fun platformers:

Musashi No Ken
Goonies

If you have cash to burn and love shoot 'em ups, I highly recommend Crisis Force by Konami.

Joy Mech Fight is an awesome versus robot fighting game by Nintendo that should have made it to North America. Like Crisis Force, it ain't a bargain bin game.

Satoshi Matrix made a top 100 list of games, most of which are available on the FC; you should definitely check that out. Don't overlook games that had overseas editions because you might want to see some games in original form. :)

Edit: Adding link to his list. :)

AV modded? I assume then it must be the original model, in which case I don't know what you're going to do with the dog bone controllers since they're only going to work with the AV Famicom. Or did you mean the actual AV Famicom? That's not modded, it's built that way. The original one is RF only with a red/white shell; the AV FC is gray.

Super Mario Bros. 2

That's FDS only.

There's plenty for FDS to make it worth having, might want to look into that too. :)

Some games that come to mind.. Cocoron, Just Breed, Fire Emblem, Final Mission, Gradius II, Hi no Tori, Parodius, Devil World...

My understanding is that the FDS' belt is notoriously undependable (i.e. it breaks easy). What has your experience been with it, FoxNtd?

Ah the infamous belt. I bought a busted FDS and installed the belt myself. It's not that tough. I have yet to need to replace it. :)

No regrets, FDS is worth having and it's easy enough to fix. I change the oil in my car more than I have to fix the FDS. Doesn't mean I'm gonna stop driving. XD

OK so it's not modified, Nintendo built it with AV out. Don't forget you have the 15-pin port on the right which you can use for other controllers. :)

One little snag with Akumajou Special (Kid Dracula as you called it.) One boss "fight" is actually a quiz in the format similar to the game show Jeopardy. If you can't understand Japanese... you might want to use a guide and just cheat, unfortunately. It's not a tough quiz and the game doesn't have that many questions for that quiz, but still, if you can't read, the odds are against you if you try to guess on every question.

Thanks for sharing your personal experience with the belt and FDS.

You lucky guy! I've been wanting to swap my older-model Famicom (no AV mods) for a proper AV Famicom or Sharp Twin Famicom. No luck yet!

You should probably try to track down some nice VRC6/7 games like Akumajou Densetsu and Esper Dream 2.

I've also wanted to try popping a NES Powerpak into a Famicom, but said older-model I have doesn't really want to run on my TV. A NES Powerpak might be a pretty good alternative to having a Famicom Disk System, as it can play many of the games, even having the FM Synth when you're running it on a Famicom.
