Just got through with episode 1 on PS3.

The last Telltale game that I played through was Back to the Future, and the first episode of this was as satisfying if not more.

The art style of the game is fantastic, taking a lot of the look of the comic book while retaining the signature Telltale style.

It's a point-and-click adventure game at its core, and what "action" sequences were there consist of little more than some timed button presses.

What was really nice in comparison to BTTF is that this one has a few sequences where you have to face hard choices about which characters to save from zombie attacks. There is no built in option to save both, you lose characters no matter what you do, and it's up to you to decide which ones with the rest of the story being permanently affected by your choices.

Fans of the TV series will be remiss that this is based on the comics, but thanks to the fact that both share some characters, you'll run into a few familiar faces in episode 1.

I'm in for the long haul. Probably should have gone ahead and done the season pass from the start!

Anybody else play it?

I didn't realize there was a game for it. That's awesome! I love that show. Sounds like I should check it out sometime. Wonder if it's available for the 360?

Yeah, Telltale's site lists PS3, 360 and PC. Looks like 360 is getting the love that was missed out on with Back to the Future.

Any idea which version is best, or if there's even any kind of appreciable difference? I'll probably just wait until the PC version inevitably goes on sale. I could get it on PC or 360.

It would be more fun to buy it now and experience it as the episodes come out, but I'm already playing too many other games at the same time right now.

I thoroughly enjoyed this game (or episode). Looking forward to the next installments, just wish there was some type of deal on the 360 for buying all episodes (PS3 and PC have a "season pass" if I recall correctly...).

From my own experience the 360 visuals are somewhat dark, making some details harder to see in night scenes. Didn't think too much of it, but then I read a blog that commented on the darkness issue and that other people they had talked to thought it was dark compared to other versions. Can't compare myself, but might be something you want to look into more if it's a concern.

Thanks. I played the demo on the 360, and the interface seemed a bit strange.

Yeah I tried the game too on 360, the trial. The interface was a bit different, but I liked it. It's a different approach at things which makes it interesting. The graphics are great - they did a good job with the camera angles. I think I am gonna purchased Ep. 1 here in a few days and play through it.

This is on sale on Steam today for 40% off as part of their summer sale. It's one of the daily deals, and I think they expire at 1pm EDT usually.

I just started reading the comics recently. I started with number 1, and I'm up to 32 now. As a side note, the iPad is great for reading comics.

I'm maybe about an hour into episode 1 of the game. I have to say, it's emotionally draining. Fantastic game. I'm glad it went on sale so early too, so that I still get to wait on episodes to come out, rather than blasting through it too quickly.

Holy shit.

I don't want to give anything away.

But holy shit, this is a good game.

I concur. The ending was great, and quite creepy. Definitely looking forward to the next installment.

I just finished episode 1. I can't remember the last time a game made me care this much about the characters. I love Clementine, and I lost it when she broke her walkie talkie and explained what it meant to her.

The part about breaking down over a video game character and everything. I immediately thought of the world's smallest violin.

I still need to watch the show I've yet to make it past episode 1 and have not read the comics either.

I'm not asking anyone to feel sorry for me. It's a pretty rare game that can elicit an emotional response like that, and for me, this is one of those few games. Others may feel differently, and that's ok. There's just something about Clementine. Her bushy hair, the ballcap she wears that belongs to her father, her bravery even when her parents are most likely dead. Even her name. It makes me want to do anything I need to do to protect her from the bad stuff. I think all of the characters are so well done and believable.

God damn. I just finished Episode 2, I played through the whole thing in one sitting. I cannot wait for Episode 3.

Spoilers:

I had to switch input methods from 360 controller to mouse/keyboard during the sequence with Brenda on the stairs. After about 7 tries with the 360 stick, it just kept moving me too close to her without me really trying.

At the end, I was afraid I had made the wrong choice in not helping to steal from the car. Here I am making the moral choice in front of Clementine, when really the old morality system didn't apply anymore. But when they offered her the hoodie, and she looked at me and shook her head, I knew I had done the right thing.

What's interesting, is that your choices really do impact the game. I'm curious, for any of you who choose to help loot the car (and 56% of you did!), when it shows the next episode teaser, does it show her wearing a red hoodie? I can tell from the dialog in the teaser that it reflects some of my other choices.

Fascinating game!

Has anyone else played through Episode 3 yet?

**SPOILERS**

I was really disappointed in Katja. Why didn't she just let Kenny take Duck into the woods? I didn't understand why she did what she did.

It was another emotionally draining first half of the game, but the second half or so didn't feel like much. It hurts that Clementine has been hiding something from me. But maybe she thinks her parents are in danger. I can't blame her for that.

Yeah.

Everybody I cared about is dead and/or out of the group for one reason or another.

I was originally thinking that it was based solely on my decisions, but I've seen that even in non "choose one" situations there are points where certain characters die/get killed no matter what you do. So, I feel a bit better and less responsible about that.

Great stuff though. Can't wait for the next episode, however, I WISH that TellTale would allow PS3 owners to DELETE individual episodes off the HDD once they're finished. I have limited drive real estate on my 60 gig, and 5 episodes is going to be pretty big when everything is said and done. It's a real PITA to delete everything, re-download Episode 1 and then the next individual episode every time that I want to free up space.

I wonder how it compares across platforms for space. On the PC, episodes 1-3 are currently taking 2.06GB.

It's around that for PS3. What sucks is that you can delete individual episodes of Back To The Future from the game data folder, but Walking Dead is completely self contained in the actual game file on the XMB, it doesn't have any file or files in the Game Data folder. Every time I want to get a new episode I need to re-download episode 1 demo, the unlock file and the episode (2, 3, etc.) but not the episode(s) that I've already completed.

I have never hated a game character as much as that one bitches dad in the convenience store.

**POSSIBLE SPOILERS, PLEASE BE AWARE**

I finished episode 3 a couple days ago and can't wait for the final parts. This is definitely in the running for best game of this generation. And unless the last 2 episodes stink out loud, will also say this has a good shot at being a top ten all-time type of game.

Now, as for the story itself: this is the saddest game I've ever played. I have never been heartbroken in a game until episode 3. The whole scene with Duck and Katja was gut-wrenching.

I was really disappointed in Katja. Why didn't she just let Kenny take Duck into the woods? I didn't understand why she did what she did.
I think Katja felt all hope was lost in regards to the situation with Duck. I made the connection as a parent, and even though I wouldn't do the same (at least I don't think so...), I still fully understand Katja's actions. But as already mentioned, saddest gaming moment of all time.

Part four and five can't come soon enough.

Wow, what a fantastic ending to the game. I can't believe that I was in the minority by not having Clementine shoot me. I've never played a game that made me emotional like this one did. Just fantastic.

ME TOO! I can't believe that only 36% of players didn't want to have a 9 year old kid shoot the closest thing to a parent that they had!

Amazing ending. As much as this series was just an exercise in decision making compared to other TellTale offerings, it was spectacular at developing characters and telling a story.

I cried my eyes out at that ending.

AND STAY TILL THE END OF THE CREDITS!

Can't wait for Season 2!

The wife and I played through the whole season in a few days over the break. Manly tears were shed <_<

But goddamn Ben. Damn you Ben! The whole time I kept thinking that he'd prove himself and yet... nothing. I saw a picture with a list of people Ben was in any way responsible for getting killed, it was a majority of the cast!

Damn Ben...

Yeah ... but I just couldn't bring myself to not protect him whenever the opportunity came up. He was a great "catalyst" for both endangering and gauging your level of empathy in your decision making.

I protected him only because he was Clementine's friend. When she voted to let him get on the boat because "Ben is nice. He's my friend, and you don't turn your back on your friends. That's my vote." I broke down.
