I recently got an original Xbox and some games for cheap, and I would like to go about installing a modchip in mine for the purpose of installing games I own to a larger hard drive, and running them from it. I know there is the Aladdin and the Xecuter, is anyone experienced with this sort of thing?

original chips like the xecuter and xenium are probably going to be hard to come by. You might check into DuoX chips. I installed several if them before and they do pretty much everything the more expensive chips do.

Forget about using a mod chip. Soft mods are the way to go, easy to install, no fuss, and has all the advantages of a mod chip.

A simple BIOS flash is the best, if your XBOX supports it.
Soft mods are okay, but they can be a problem when changing hard drives.

Yeah, part of the reason I want to go the hardware route is because I want to be installing and running my games from the HDD, and that would require a rather large one.

And you'd probably spend more money on the parts you'd need to softmod it than a chip. I myself prefer a chip as well, because if something goes wrong with a softmodded xbox, you need a modchip to fix it.
