Sold an item on ebay to a buyer whose listed address is Florida. After I send an invoice the buyer asks me to ship to an address in El Salvador. Now his shipping quote is correct, and I have no problems sending overseas, but would there be any chance of problems? Why not just change his listed address?

Don't ship it to El Salvador, that smells of a scam to me.
I think eBay allows you to file a complaint against the buyer for doing this, but I'll be damned if I can remember how...

I'm going to agree that this smells of scam. If you shipped to the Florida address and ignored his request then what would happen?

I think you can request to cancel the transaction because of this to get your fees back. Obviously if you send to el Salvador the buyer can immediately file a claim and get their money back. So their shipping quote is irrelevant.

Buyer could file a claim but would have to send the item back to receive a refund.
If anyone ever requests a different address, I refund their money and ask them to pay me again but to select the proper address when they checkout. It's not hard to add an address to PayPal and that protects my ass.

Any time buyers ask me to do this I tell them no, regardless of their reason. I have to deal with enough shit from buyers who admit they received their items. Even though I get tracking numbers on everything I still wouldn't send the item to an alternate address. You are only protected by shipping to the address listed on paypal, even if it isn't unconfirmed.

He requested a new invoice via ebay with his foreign address listed. Says it is PP confirmed, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Personally, I would not ship to El Salvador at all.
