Anybody else ever have any issues with this? I bought Star Ocean: Second Evolution from Amazon, and when it arrived, I thought the shrink wrap was odd. I also found it odd that a Square Enix game would have French on its packaging. So I looked it up and confirmed that I had indeed received the Canadian version. I know what you get can be a total crap shoot in the Marketplace, but I always assumed that games sold or fulfilled (this was fulfilled) by Amazon would be US versions. I'm mildly peeved because I'd prefer to have the US version, and it's not worth the hassle to complain or do a return. Now this makes me wonder what other games I may have gotten Canadian versions of when I had simply assumed that the publishers put French on all North American copies to save money.

Unless it's sold and shipped by Amazon, there is no guarantee about where the product originated from. Fulfilled just means that the vendor shipped a package full of the items to Amazon and Amazon takes responsibility for shipping them out as orders come in and in turn the vendor pays Amazon a percentage of the sale that covers shipping, materials, order handling, etc...Having said that, I have received multilingual versions of games from Amazon on a couple occasions even though I have seen the same game in a non-multilingual version at brick and mortar retailers. My copy of Racquet Sports with the camera for Wii which was shipped and sold by Amazon was multilingual but the copies I saw at Toys R Us only had English on the ESRB and box. That's the only one I'm aware of recently as I almost always quickly check a local retailer if I get a multi-lingual from Amazon or on 3DS/DS games, if the seal looks funny on the Amazon copy. Nintendo in particular does a lot of multilingual boxes and Konami almost always does weird shrinkwrap seals on DS stuff.

The back of my copy of Lords of Shadow is mostly in French. Is that on all copies?

It was only released in the US in multilingual packaging, so assuming there is also English on the back, you should have the US version.

I bought Samurai Shodown Anthology from Walmart.com and got a Canuckistan version. Two manuals, and French on the art. :(

I bought Serious Sam II from Amazon and got the UK version. When I bought the Police Quest Collection, I guess I got the European version. It's rated Pegi 16, has URL's for sierra.com/uk and classics.sierra.com/uk, and over the barcode it says "BSS Police Quest Compilation FE Nordic". But it also says "Not for distribution in the UK", so I really don't know.
Both were sold directly by Amazon, I'm almost sure.

Some of the Canadian items have a second 'cover' under the loose shrink wrap. I got a number of Canuck based PS2 games years ago, all of them had second manuals and inserts shrink wrapped over the standard US copy.

It depends on the publisher some games have french manuals and such on the back. I bought a Singapore version of Soul Calibur IV from Play asia (it was cheaper) and it also had duel French/English as the Singapore version is just the US version with no Rating on the box.

I bought Project Sylpheed from NewEgg awhile back and actually got the Mexican version. It was only like $5 in the first place but was still a bit jarring.

Grrr, this purchase is only getting more and more annoying. As soon as I took off the shrink wrap, I discovered that the case is broken at the tip hinge, so it won't even snap shut there. I wouldn't be surprised if it's partially because of how stupidly crammed the case is with two thick manuals jammed inside. Two loose pieces of plastic fell out of the case. Maybe I can pull something off with superglue, but I doubt it.

I living in Canada found a copy of the same game locally and yet it's not the Canadian or dual language release. If anything there could be a certain element of randomness to it.
