Ninja Gaiden 3 got HAMMERED by reviewers. Personally I think it was a great game a little streamlining never hurt anyone and streamlining the game gave it a nice frantic pace. Not that it doesn't have it's flaws, Auto Combos, It's short, It has an online pass, and the Camera has a mind of it's own.
Other than that though I thought it was a great game I just wish it was longer.

Hated every minute of it. It was completely idiotic to remove the weapons and only have the sword/bow. It could work back when 20-30 minute beat-em-ups were the norm, but over the course of hours, it grates the repetition nerves.
During QTEs, I actually found myself hitting the wrong button and sequence continuing on as if nothing was wrong. Even in combat, the game feels like it's playing itself with a wonky camera that disturbs the flow of combat.
I'm all for making the game easier, but to remove all collectibles in addition to health destroys any reason to go venturing into the levels with any other mindset short of, "go forward."
Oh, and multiplayer. Just no.
This might have worked if it were the first game on the original Xbox. Maybe.

Honestly I felt it stuck more closely to the NES games than the last 2 games did. I don't miss the extra weapons and there will be more via DLC I do miss the Vloogorian Flail but still I felt it was a solid game. Reminded me of the NES games just not as hard with a Hint of the PS2 Shinobi.
Can you really hate a game where Helicopters are REGULAR ENEMIES?

I agree. It was one of my biggest regretted purchases of this year so far. It literally took everthing that was fun and addictive about the first two games and cut it down to a mindless slog through places and for objectives I could have cared less about.

Yes, when the entire level is nothing but the same helicopter battle repeated ad nauseum.

Sounds like no. The game is trash.
The first two games were interesting and fun due largely to their challenge. Hard, but fair. Ninja Gaiden 3 is a scrubby, repetitive mash fest that quickly gets boring; a sin the first two games never committed. The camera is somehow even worse than Ninja Gaiden 2, there's never a reason not to mash out your ultimate magic attack... that game was a serious bummer, and probably killed the brand. Good job Tecmo!

Well I feel a little better now. I'd never played any of these, but I played the demo on the 360 and had no fun at all. I really thought I must be missing something.

You know it's just a game but for some reason the fact people are shitting all over this game is really pissing me off. I just thing gamers now are fickle and the slightest change to a franchise makes them turn on it in a heartbeat.
YES the games has flaws but I really enjoyed it and others have too.

So you come in here asking for opinions, got them, and now you're angry? Who cares if other people like it or not? If you do, great, keep liking it. Nothing changes.
And it has more than slight changes...

Sorry no one is reaffirming your opinion, dawgge.
If you liked it, good on you. I recommend seeking out the first two games. I still think Ninja Gaiden 3 is irradiated dog shit, and that's that.

I guess they wanted to just keep up the pattern of the third NG game sucking, just like back in the day.

Like many people have already stated, there are just too many gameplay elements chopped out, and in their place were elements that slowed the pace down too much. I really disliked the "bullet-time"/slo-mo segments when Ryu's arm/hemorrhoids were flaring up, and you're just slowly limping from one enemy to the other, killing them with one slash, it directly conflicts with the fast-paced precision gameplay you're thirsting for.
I also despise how like Metroid: Other M, the main character was emasculated in the story. In both cases, you had a strong and mysterious central character whose mystique was actually a key component to their persona, and their spoken scenes and the unveiling of their "humanity" and history completely ruined the character. Both characters were turned in to fucking bitches, they've been tarnished. I hate how Samus was in a panic when she encountered Ridley and had to be rescued by her teammate. The most independent and strong female lead in gaming was turned into a little girl who needs a man to save her, fucking deplorable. NG3 is almost as bad. I want Ryu to be a killing machine, not some emotional twit.
I actually liked the Regent of the Mask character however, and enjoyed the fights against him, although I feel there was perhaps one too many of them.
I don't think NG3 is a terrible game, I'm still glad I played it, and I did get some enjoyment out of it. It is the worst game in the series tho, there's no question about that. NG, NGB, NG2, and the Sigmas are far, far better than 3 by a longshot.

I played the demo too and found it...ok. I didn't really like the parts where you had to casually walk thru smoke to sneak up on dudes. And there were times when the camera was your biggest enemy, just like the first two games. I expected the demo to be a bit easier but if the whole game is like that then they are taking away one of the biggest selling points of the last two games. I'll still pick it up but only after a few price drops.

I thought it was a great game with great controls, music, and graphics. The only thing honestly that I didn't like much about it was that it was HARD.

About time Itagaki was brought up. With his departure, along with other TN crew, and the negative views on NG3 it kinda makes me worry about the upcoming DOA.

At least we get see-through clothing.
