Hello, all...
I'm trying to put together a list of all the shooters released for the Super Nintendo in the United States... this list is for traditional horizontal and verticle shooters... no FPS (Doom), no Desert Strikes, no one-screen shooter games (like the awesome Smash TV), no gun games, and no 3-D games like StarFox. This is what I have so far, and I'm purpusely excluding imports. What am I missing? Help please!
:D
Axelay
Aero Fighters
Biometal
Darius Twin
D-Force
Earth Defense Force
Firepower 2000
Gradius III
Hyperzone
Imperium
Lock On

Phalanx
R-Type III
Raiden Triad

Aero Fighters ( I think that's spelled right). Great game, though horrificly short.

Thanks! Can't believe I forgot the R-Types. The only Aero Fighters I could find was one for N64... there was another one I see!
Check the xenocide files section at http://www.classicgaming.com/shmups/ .

Aero Fighters on SNES is pretty tough to come by, don't blame yourself for missing that one :D

Metal Warriors isn't a shooter in the same sense as Axelay or R-Type. It's closer to Cybernator and Contra.

yeah, I started at classicgaming.com (a great site) but the shooter section hasn't been updated in a while... the Xbox and Cube aren't listed, and the DC is apparently still in stores.
None of the Parodius games made it to the US for the SNES, unfortunately.

You talking about the shmups site? That's cause Akira doesn't have any free time these days :)

hunt for red october is like a superscope game i think...
I found this bit on the net...
The Hunt For Red October has two types of playing levels, Side Scrolling 2-D mode, and a Periscope mode that lets you take the perspective of the periscope. In the Periscope mode, you can use the Super Scope (Gun for the SNES) or the Controller. The side scrolling levels all use the controller.
It's sounds like part of the game is a bit like In The Hunt (arcade, PSX, Saturn)
I seem to recall from screenshots that SeaQuest DSV had side-scrolling parts, but I'm not sure it would qualify as a shooter (having never played it).

I played DSV a long time ago... I remember it being full of exploration/shooting, a bit like the Stike series... I'm looking for the straight shooters where you're constantly moving on a scrolling background. That may disqualify The Hunt For Red October. I'll have to play it.
Thanks for thinking, though! I know I can always get help here.
