When I was at my local Import shop the other day and I saw a PS2 that you loaded the cd in the top.It said it played imports and backups for only $45!Now I didn't get a chance to talk to the guy because I had to go but I am pretty sure this is a pirated system, has anyone else heard of this?

That should work nicely if you have Swap Magic v2 boot discs. I've got a pair and they're great.

Yea that is what it looked like, but it was on a system and it was only $45!The only thing it didn't have was hook ups.I am wondering if this was too good to be true,if not I might want to buy it...

Yeah, there are several places on the web that sell them as a set.

Actually, what you buy is just the top cover that you replace on your PS2, not an entire unit. And if you're paying $45 for the cover, you're paying waaaay too much.

As for compatability...well, the only import PS2 game I have is DoDonpachi 3 and it works...sort of. You can't access the art gallery or "death label" modes because they require a system reset. I've also heard Soul Calibur 2 wouldn't work with this set up for some reason.

IN other words...approach with caution.

:o Finally someone else has been there. I'm probably going tomorrow afternoon on my way to class.

Take 94 East towards 696 and get off at 10 mile. Take a left and it will be on your left hand side in the second set of strip shops.

Curses! Why must all the interesting shops be near Detroit? There is NOTHING worth seeing near Grand Rapids. I'm totally serious.

Yes but this had a system on it!It had everything but the hooks ups,and thta is why I think it is too good to be true.

Or trying living in South Jersey...all I've got around me are big retail stores like Gamestop, EB, etc. I couldn't find a nice small place like that to save my life.

@Six Switch: In that thread about all the people in Michigan, you mentioned a new video game store in Detroit. Is this it? If it isn't, I'd like to hear about it. There aren't any smaller video game stores up here, it drives me crazy.

Masquerade isn't new...it's been around for a while. Also worth checking out-
Gamestation in Wyandotte/the Taylor Gibraltor Trade Center

Gamespot in Garden City

and Whizzy Wigs in Ann Arbor.

Oh, and pocky is waaay overrated. "Hey look! Cookie sticks dipped in chocolate!". There's better japanese snacks that are less hyped.

True, but I like pocky. And trying new, unmarked japanese snacks scares me, ever since I ate something I THOUGHT was going to be chocolate candy, that ended up being fish-flavored candy.

Yea there are better Japanese candy out there, but I do love Pocky. And Japanese soda is the best, even if my dad says it tastes like floor wax.
