Contra Force on the GBA?!?!

Sorry if this is the wrong forum, but I was on eBay and ran into something that just made me go "WTF?"

The auction guy admits its an unlicensed copy (probably a flash cart with a custom label then) and describes it in detail. I'm tempted to buy this out of sheer morbid curiosity, but caution is holding me back. If anyone else wants to have at it though, let me know how it is.

I doubt it's an actual flash cart, but it's probably just an NES emulator with that one ROM on it. It's like those bootleg factory made multicarts full of NES games, except this just has one on it. That's my guess anyway.

I always thought the game was really good and never thought different until the interwebs. I don't know why people rag on this game.

To me it feels like an unlicensed Contra knockoff. Smaller character sprites, dull graphics, weak music, boring enemies, and the slowdown...annoying!

HA! Ebay suckers, I feel sorry for the dumbass that pays $30+ for this. A guy on FW had a bunch of these for $8 each a while back.



It would be much more interesting if it was one of the exclusive hacks, like Crash Bandicoot 4, which is actually a hack of Werewolf.

I always figured if the word Contra weren't in the name, people would have considered it another great Konami NES game. People looking for Contra will be disappointed, but it is a pretty good game, I think.

I concur. Not the greatest but it's different. Only real negative is the slowdown and sprite flickering. Music it sounded alright, at least the boss theme. The boss battles were always good. The overhead level made good use of the wind in the sky stage. A Gradius weapon power up system and four different characters made for variety and strategy with knowing how and when to use each one.
