I know sellers are not allowed to ask for payments other than Paypal (and a few others), but what if a buyer asks to pay by money order? Ebay just says sellers can not request money order, they don't say anything about when a buyer requests paying via money order.

As I understand this, the buyer must initiate contact about payment methods. Except for local pickup items the seller may not hint in listing descriptions or otherwise they'll consider it.

Could be wrong.

Unless it's changed recently, you can accept alternative forms of payment if proposed by the buyer. You just can't advertise it publicly but I still have a few buyers that pay with money orders/personal checks from time to time. Haven't had one in probably 4-5 months though.

I remember hearing about some type of anti-trust thing a while back that was talking about how it is illegal for eBay to force you to use PayPal and not allow other payment methods. That was a while ago (when eBay bought paypal) not sure if it's changed since then.
