Meh. For those of us that own all the games already, there isn't much in the way of exclusives to justify the purchase.

Now, I'm going to buy this, because I'm a dumb consumer whore... but I would have thought some Street Fighter Alpha would be included. Strange omission.

I actually kind of want this, even though its kind of pointless.

I mean, including the entire animated series is cool, but I already have it from ADV's DVD release.

I want to get this.

Not played SXT yet or SFIV I mainly sold on the 11 disc OST.

Eh, to be honest I bought it out of curiosity during an extreme Street Fighter phase I had awhile ago... and I wound up thinking "this is actually pretty good, for how much it rapes the source material." Which is actually not much. If you can accept that all the "good" characters are part of some secret version of G.I. Joe then everything else kinda falls into place.

Also its the only animated version where Blanka has a huge role. Freakin' Blanka.

Talk NO SHIT about my boy Blanka.

My buddy is a huge Street Fighter canon guy, which I think is hysterically funny. Whatver story it might have had had devolved into "excuse for burly racial stereotypes to digitally punch each other" even before they were done with the Street Fighter II series. Whatever you might think about the anime series, it trumps the games by at least being coherent. Not that it matters. Those guys are currently duking it out with their homies from Tekken, and it only gets worse from there.

Because an action cartoon without stupidity is no action cartoon worth my time. Plus it's a great sequel-ish followup to the movie, basking in the same 80s action cartoon shenanigans from the film.

Doubtful. They are also available for pre-order on Amazon. Frankly, I wouldn't order from Capcom as they use Digital River for their fulfillment which is lousy at packaging things and won't refund shipping either way if you have to return a damaged item. Also, Capcom will do nothing to intervene on damaged items. So, your best bet would be to order from Amazon or Gamestop as at least you can return the item and get your money back if there is a problem.

Bojay isn't wrong about Digital River, even though I went ahead and ordered through them today. You should probably know that as of this moment, the only place to actually ORDER one of these is Capcom Unity: Amazon has a page up, but it's one of those "we'll email when it's available for pre-order" things.

You should also know that if you pre-order on Capcom Unity, they're going to ding your card RIGHT NOW TODAY.

Actually, Amazon has had live preorders open for about the last 3-4 hours. I'm sure Gamestop will be next.

I actually like big collections like this, just not the prices they tend to go for. I'm also not a Street Fighter fan but I would pick this up if I saw it on the cheap. It would be a nice way to get caught back up on the series. My last experience with SF was the Chun Li movie and well.....um, I'll just leave it at that.

True, Nintendo phoned it in with Super Mario All-Stars Wii, but I like Sonic Generations.

Ace Attorney's 10th anniversary came and went with not only no announcements of games, but an unannouncement in that AAI2 is not coming out here barring a miracle. Things are oddly silent on Mega Man's 25th as well.

Not going for this one...
I've already amassed most of the contents in that collection separately over the years save for the OST and figure (which I would just toss in a fire since I hate Ryu). After the stunts Capcom's been pulling with the SxT DLC fiasco, MvC3/UMvC3, and other over-priced DLC, I'm through giving them money. I'm a huge Street Fighter fan, but my common sense has prevailed over my fan-boyism.

I also believe that the omission of an Alpha Anthology is heresy.

Any news on if this will just have the regular retail game discs along with a DLC token, or newly compliled disc with the content actually on it?

(Insert joke about not having to redo the SFxT disc)

I'll buy this for if it ever gets down to around $60 or under. I'd eventually like to own Street Fighter x Tekken without disc locked content and for now this seems the only way(or atleast maybe.)

The pictures on Amazon show a card with the DLC for the two download games plus the DLC for the two disc based games. As such, it's pretty safe to assume these are just the regular versions of both disc games in a generic case with the DLC as a download only.

All I ask for is Alpha 3 Max for XBLA/PSN or a retail disc with some sort of extra. SFXt does NOT belong in this Set Not just becuase it's unfinished but because it's an outside franchise

Not to be critical, but the statue seems like the only thing people are still excited about. The physical games are all down to $20 at various retailers, the digital games are also regularly on sale and they're digital which is a deal breaker for a lot of collectors. That basically just leaves the soundtrack and outer box which really doesn't seem worth the $150. I ended up keeping my preorder, but of the three collector friends I have that also preordered, I'm the only one that didn't cancel. I think Capcom just blew it and that's probably why the set still isn't sold out where many other collector's editions are this year.

Yes, it does seem that Capcom blew a great chance to really cater to their core fans. I didn't own a majority of the games or the blu ray in this package so I am happy. That, and I didn't pay for it. There's little chance I would shell out for something like this unless it was truly limited/exclusive.

I already have all the games and videos, so it's not much good to me. It really would be better if it included the Street Fighter II V series and the digital version of Hyper Fighting, but I know it wasn't the best port and never made it to PS3.
Alpha 3 Max is a no brainer, though, so I can only imagine they're saving it for a rainy day.

I don't know what you guys were expecting, but I'm pretty happy with it. I already own the games, but that isn't the point: the point is that it's fun to celebrate Street Fighter.

I mean, getting the terrible Saturday morning Street Fighter cartoon on Blu-Ray is worth the cost ALONE, but also getting an official release of the full Third Strike soundtrack? Priceless.

So yeah. It's pretty neat.

$150 plus tax is a lot to spend on celebrating a series of games many of us already own. Capcom could have done a lot more than they did with this set.

For example?

Let's be clear: in any anniversary set, you're already going to own the games. They release this stuff for people who are already fans. You're not going to convert anyone with a box set that retails for $150 or more.

It has hours of remastered music, the box itself is of excellent quality, the documentary and other video content is well done, the statue is very nice (if you're into that sort of thing), and, uh, I guess the karate belt is a thing. The art book is nice, and the games include all the costumes and other DLC.

It certainly beats the 15 year anniversary, which consisted of bad Saturn clone controllers, a cheap MAS stick knock off, and a poor re-release of SFII and 3S.

Can't please some people, I guess.

Yes, but I've never bought an anniversary set that gave me versions of the games that are identical to what are being sold at retail at the same time. They could have done custom artwork/disc art on all the games included and actually unlocked the DLC on the discs rather than making them vouchers and done disc versions of the previously download only games. They could have also replaced SF v. Tekken with something that was considered part of the main Street Fighter series. Failing all that, they could have reduced the price.

An HD update of SF1 would have been nice.

Every year we throw a big tournament for our team anniversary, between fifty and sixty people show up from across the state. Every year we have the original Street Fighter running on a beefy MAME cab with an open challenge: if anyone can perform fifty fireballs or shoryukens in a row, they get two hundred bucks. No one has ever done it, and no one ever will, because the value that recognizes and implements joystick and button inputs is programmed to occasionally drop or add an input. It's purposefully gimped. That game is hot garbage; it's one of the rare instances of a game being rendered completely valueless by a sequel.

I'm not going to say that I wouldn't have minded more stuff in the box; more is always better. But, we didn't, and what we got was good fun for die hard fans of Street Fighter. I understand that this isn't a box that's guaranteed to set the heart on fire, but I dispute that it's inherently worthless.

They did chuck it in favor of something more like SFII. HD Remix is in the box, which, unless you're a Super Turbo purist, is pretty good. That way they didn't spend money updating a game that no one cares about, no one has ever cared about, and that was obsolete in early 1992.

Sure, I'd have liked the Alpha games, or EX2 or 3, but whatever: for what I paid, it's pretty good.

If I was making the transition to a new console, like if my XBOX360 died and I decided to switch to Playstation 3, then this would be a good deal for me, but as it stands, I already have the games and have no desire to buy them again just for a few knickknacks.
