So, I'm finishing up one game and it is time to start another.

I've been feeling like playing a survival horror type game and just my luck, I picked up a few recently.

Evil Dead: Fistfull of boomstick
Land of the Dead
Cursed

All games are on the Xbox.

The only game I have reviewed is Land of the dead. The consensus seems to be, the aim can be kind of clunky and the ammunition supply is limited. Luckily, I don't mind a challenge, so that may not be a problem!

The other two games I don't know much about, besides what I read on the boxes.

So what are some opinons on these games? What's good and what's not so good (or bad)?

I'm a survival horror junky but I've never played any of those games. I hear that pretty much all Evil Dead games are mediocre to terrible though. That's probably not helpful since it's just a second hand account, little different from anything you can read on GameFAQS.

I'm probably going to start Cold Fear for the XBOX, myself, but I just finished DOOM 3 and I'd like something not so dark in between to keep me from slitting my wrists (survival horror games really bring my to a dark place). :|

I'm not sure if Evil Dead or Land of the Dead are survival horror, I think they may both be more of a horror-themed shooter. I could be wrong however as I've never played them myself. That reminds me, I need to get around to watching Land of the Dead. The premise always intrigued me.

Never played any of those games, but when you're done with those you could try out a game called "Obscure". It's a pretty decent survival horror game that you can actually play with a friend.

The Thing while being a game tied to a movie.. Its actually not that bad really. There are some random glitches you'll find. and some points it gets a lil weird with you fighting monsters and soldiers at the same time but whatever. The end of the game is really cool IMO it adds to the john carpenter film explaining what happened after all that shit went down.

Fatal Frame is an amazing series. Some of the scariest gaming you'll find imo. Your armed with a camera and you are to use it to fight off evil spirits....
The locations in this game are musicless and everythings pretty quiet. You'll be walking along and then all the sudden behind you the sound of children giggling and running behind.. You turn around... nothing there.. You turn back around and there staring nose to nose at you is a evil spirit. If that don't make you shit bricks... nothing will.

Yeah, Fatal Frame is an amazing experience IMO. Also, Silent Hill 2: Restless Dreams is probably my number one all time (classic) survival horror pick. Fuck Silent Hill 4: The Room :(

Thanks for the responses everyone!

I know the games I listed weren't blockbuster games, although they may have been rentals at Blockbuster! ROFL But they are the games I have available.

I just mentioned survival horror type of games, because that is the way I looked at them, like a couple of you pointed out, by dealing with monsters and such.

I hadn't heard of Cold Fear nor The Suffering, but they sound like they are right up my alley! I'll have to keep an eye out for them.

I also hadn't heard of the Fatal Frame series until just a couple of months ago. I was in a Gamestop and I saw one of Fatal Frames for PS2. I wondered why the price was so high, so I flipped over the box to see what the game was about and it sounded like it would be really good as well.

I have also been looking for Obscure. I saw that at a game store quite a while back and it looked quite fun. Unfortunately, I haven't picked it up yet.

I guess for now, I'll just pick one of the games I have and give it a shot. Maybe I'll just flip a coin or something to choose!

Most places over price any of the Fatal Frame games on PS2. You can still get sealed copies of the games for under 20 dollars at Amazon. Xbox versions on the other hand, are still around 30 dollars used.

I also recommend The Suffering.
