This thread is to go with the whole talk about a Metroid Star Fox fusion game thats been going around.

Alright since I am a huge fan of the games valve has released over the years. And also I am a fan of Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez films since they work alot together on projects.

If you ever watched their movies. Almost all of them in some way or fashion some how will be intertwined with all the other movies. Like you'll spot some characters from Dusk Till Dawn in the movie Planet Terror.
Or the character Machete being from the movie Desperado. Ect ect ect

So going back to valve the company and its games I have given thought into its games and find it funny you can find cues that some how tie its games together.

For instance the most obvious one is Half Life and Portal.... Half Life deals with Black Mesa science labs which is a company creating new extreme technologies to further evolve man kind.
Portal deals with Aperture Science Labs which you find out in Portal 2 Black Mesa is actually their arch nemesis competing lab.

Now to get a little more extreme in this thought process. Left 4 Dead series which is a zombie survival game as we all know.
If you give it a thought. Think about what if black mesa or aperture science is actually responsible for the outbreak like a test gone wrong?
In Left 4 Dead 2 if you play with the music box in one of the levels you will also get this clue.

and GladOs did say she wanted to take up figuring out how to reanimate the dead.

So think about it.

Also what other games could there be that have these secret tie ins story wise or in the same world or atleast galaxy with other games that may not be even related really.

Well, there is the Super Smash Bros series...

Solid Snake is in Brawl, so technically he exists in the same universe as Nintendo characters. But he was also in DreamMix TV World Fighters.

Sonic was in SSBB along with the Mario & Sonic series. Sonic was also in the Sega Superstars series, which brought together many Sega franchises.

And Mario Sports Mix puts Mario with Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest. Final Fantasy was also in Kingdom Hearts, with Disney. If you've seen Roger Rabbit you can see where I'm going with this.

AND the Mario Kart Arcade GP series had Pac-Man characters and a Tamagotchi!

So Mario exists in a world with Bugs Bunny and Megatron.

My brain hurts.

EDIT: I just realized that Bomberman was in DreamMix but was also in Wario Blast!

Dust 514 and Eve Online are going to be cross platform. Eve Online is for PC in space, and Dust 514 is going to be a FPS on the ground of one of those locations that are in Eve Online.

And Bugs Bunny was in Cartoon Allstars to the Rescue with a Ninja Turtle, and the Ninja Turtles were in an episode of Power Rangers.

Power Rangers Japanese counterpart, Super Sentai, has been refrenced in Power Rangers. Super Sentai has had crossovers with Kamen Rider and Metal Hero.

If Snake is in that new Playstation fighting game with all the different franchises, we will find some new connections.

EDIT: And Sonic was in Sega Allstars Racing with Banjo and Kazooie, who also had a game with Conker and Diddy Kong. There were also references to Mr. Pants in the Banjo games.

Now with the Wreck-It Ralph movie on the way these games are connected with Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat.

There was Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe, then there was Street Fighter X Tekken.

Not to mention Marvel vs Capcom, Capcom vs SNK and Tatsunoko vs Capcom.

Link from Zelda was in Soul Calibur 2, and Star Wars characters were in Soul Calibur 4.

Kratos was in the new Mortal Kombat game for PS3, and he will be in the PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale game, with such characters as Fat Princess and Sly Cooper.

Sly Cooper was in Playstation Move Heroes with Jak and Daxter & Ratchet and Clank.

There is a Mario board in 1080 Avalanche, you can see a Mario mountain in Pilotwings 64, and the Gamecube version of NBA Street V3 lets you play as Mario.

Pokemon Conquest mixes Pokemon with Nobunga's Ambition.

There was an episode of the 1960's Batman show with the Green Hornet.

Captain N has many, many games crossover with each other.

Project X Zone will also bring together many franchises.

Finally, in Donkey Kong Country 2 you can see Sonic's shoes and Earthworm Jim's gun near the garbage.

I feel like the big crossover games shouldn't count in this since the purpose of those games is to have as many random and varied characters as possible.

I can think of a few subtle ones though.

Clouds very random appearance in Final Fantasy Tactics.

There is another tenuousness link/in-joke between FF X-2 and FF7 with a character names Shinra and his attempts to extract Mako energy from the Farplane.

There's also a direct reference in FFXIII-2 to Setzer from FF6, basically breaking the bank of a Casino for the Gods. :p

The Metal Gear Series has a lot of little references to Policenauts.

The Ace Combat series also had a lot of little ones with Ridge Racer, mostly in sponsorship logos and various corporations that suggest some titles tack place in the same universe.

If they did count then I bet you could link almost every game franchise ever.

When Cloud is somewhat incoherent in Final Fantasy VII he babbles about "zeno... gias..." a reference to the game Xenogears.

The Star Ocean games and Valkyrie Profile games are technically in the same universe. Valkyrie Profile basically takes place on just one random planet in the universe. And given a certain infamous, outlandish plot twist in Star Ocean 3 that affected the entire series, that twist applies to Valkyrie Profile too then.

Which is exactly why they shouldn't count, its just too easy. lol

I remembered about a good one too. I don't remember which one but one of the Afterburner games had the car from Outrun pull onto the runway you would land on. :)

Street Fighter and Final Fight are basically one property at this point.
Actraiser, Soul Blazer, Terranigma, and Dark Cloud are all vaguely related.

What's the basis for this? The world "Asgard" is mentioned in Star Ocean 3 when they're discussing an extra boss who appears in many tri-Ace games, Valkyrie Profile included. Is there more evidence linking the two series?

Just some minor stuff in Star Ocean 3. Cliff gets a letter from the planet Midgard in his ending. Maria mentions Bloodbane from Planet Midgard prior to fighting Crosell (both dragons). Asgard is listed off among all the planets that Gabriel appeared on. There's a bookcase that contains:

The Tale of Star Ocean (the first Star Ocean, obviously)
The Tale of Sulfur Dioxide (SO2)
The Maiden's Profile (VP)
The Indigo Ball (Star Ocean: Blue Sphere)

Some of the stuff I could write off as non-canon fan service, but when it's dialogue spoken by the cast in a serious way in the main game, I'd say that's solid enough. There might be some more stuff in the other games, but that's all that's coming to mind.

i really like it when they do that... tie the games in such a way makes it feel like they exist together. It expands on the story and then gets your brain thinking about the possibilities of "well now we know this is apart of it what does that mean"

I remembered about a good one too. I don't remember which one but one of the Afterburner games had the car from Outrun pull onto the runway you would land on. :)I'm pretty sure that it was in the original arcade game. There are cameos on the areas when you land your plane to refuel. The motorcyclist from Hang-On is in there as well. It was in the SEGA AGES version, and I believe the 32X version as well. A lot of those Yu Suzuki games have references to the others super scaler ones.

There's an Easter Egg on the Genesis version of Outrun where if you don't crash into anything by the start of the third stage you get a cameo of the Afterburner F-14, or Galaxy Force space ship flying into the screen depending on which path you take. IIRC, there also a random blimp on the third path.

IIRC, on Daytona USA, if you input the initials A.B, S.H, H.O, or O.R at the name entry screen, you'll get a soundbite from the corresponding games; After Burner, Space Harrier, Hang-On, or OutRun.

It's a cute idea, but all of that sounds more like in-jokey stuff to me. It might have weight if the developers said something about it, as with the Shinra (http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Shinra_%28Final_Fantasy_X-2%29) connection in Final Fantasy X-2.

I don't know if tri-Ace has ever said anything about, but if they did, it'd be in Japanese and, with the Western tri-Ace fandom not being as big as the Final Fantasy fandom, interesting points like this can easily slip through the cracks. Either way, with lines like Maria's, which was mid-game and not played for humor at all, it appears to be a pretty concrete connection to me.

Dante from Devil May Cry appears as a playable character in Viewtiful Joe.

Gears of War main characters Marcus and Dom are playable in Lost Planet 2, as are Helghast characters from the Killzone series.

Enzio from the Assassin's Creed series is playable in Soul Calibur V.

Chun Li from Street Fighter makes cameo appearances in Breath of Fire and Mega Man 9.

There is a playable Spartan from the Halo series in Dead Or Alive 4.

Halo 3 features unlockable Hayabusa armor(that resembles Ninja Gaiden's Ryu Hayabusa's gear--complete with katana sword) you can equip your spartan with.
