Well, I hope I'm not kicked out of here for this. I have yet to conquer Super Mario Bros. :embarrassed:

I can probably count the number of games I have conquered on one hand. Two if I'm lucky...

My embarrassing video game confession? Ugh, this sucked, but here goes.

Was at an all-night D&D game back in my geeky youth. Anyway, someone had taken apart an Atari 2600 joystick for some project. As we played D&D, I fiddled around with the parts on the table. I was particularly interested in the rubber joystick "sheath" - the hollow rubber covering that flares out at the base. Anyway, I noticed it was just a big suction cup and - in my boredom - began sticking it to the table, to the nearby fridge, etc. Well, I squeezed all the air out of it and stuck it to my forehead.

"Im a unicorn! I'm a unicorn!" I shouted, much to the merriment of the players.

My DM - unamused at my antics - got up, walked over and snatched it off my forehead. It came off with a loud POP which managed to break every blood vessel just below the surface of the skin.

There, in the center of my forehead, was a perfectly round, perfectly red HICKY ABOUT 2 INCHES ACROSS. And I had it for nearly TWO WEEKs until it finally faded and healed. O_O I looked like a friggin Hindu. My friends were brutal and I didn't go out at all until it healed, because I looked like an absolute dork.

Ugh, whatta event. x_x

You're not alone, Sniderman. So as long as we're confessing...

When I was 15 or so I had a inflicted a similar joystick hickey on myself, except mine was on my chin. The rubber cover of my 2600 stick had slipped out of the ring as they invariably do. And while passively watching television one day I kept playing with the cover by suctioning it to my chin, like some sort of weird beard. After about an hour-and-a-half of doing this there was a perfectly round red dime-sized bruise on my chin. I was a laughingstock at school and in social circles for a week.

Good times...good times.... :(

I got you all beat... no pun intended, of course.
I was playing Sunsoft's Addams Family game, Fester's Quest. In case you don't remember it, it's very much like Blaster Master, but with all the characters replaced by members of the Addams Family. Anyway, I finally reached the end of the game, and squared off against the last boss. It was a really intense battle, but I finally emerged victorious.
Here's the embarassing part. In celebration, I threw down the controller and screamed with all my might, "I BEAT FESTER! I BEAT FESTER!!!" My brother and his friend, who had just returned from a hunting session in the woods, shouted back, "Yeah, I'm sure you did, but WE don't want to know about it!"
I was subjected to an endless array of masturbation jokes for a week.

I have completed very few games. I tend to have a short attention span when it comes to gaming and I switch from game to game regularly. There's no way I could just sit for hours and hours playing the same game. MAYBE if I could save the game but not otherwise. Zelda 3 is the only game I have completed in a long time (hardly a great boast seeing how it's not particularly difficult and I'd completed it many times before). The other games I have completed are not very impressive either, like Super Mario World, Street Fighter II, etc. I've never completed any of my Gamecube games, again partly because I'm not good at sitting there for long periods playing just one game.

Oh, by the way, I'm not sure I ever completed Super Mario Bros. either. The fact that I can't remember probably means that I didn't...

That's nothing, I have a friend who pauses Super Smash Bros Melee when peach does her straight up kick thing, and then rotates the camera. And he's twenty. Now THAT'S messed up.

A friend of mine (24 y/o) let me in on his 'big secret'. He's got Final Fight 2 on the Super Famicom. He gushes with hormones every time Maki performs her finishing jump kick on opponents. I actually watched this moron smile as he paused the game during the last frames of animation of Maki's jump kick.

I could go on about his 'hobbies', but no need in distracting my fellow posters. O_O

1) I don't really like Mario Bro. games.
2) I am still working on Zelda
3) I cant fly that DAMN RC HELICOPTER in Vice City.
4) I force my that sweet Elf Adrianna to fight in her underwear.

I have decided to not buy any more games untill I beat all of my games (the ones that can be saved, I don't have four hours to beat a game in one sitting.)

I have only played about 25% of the games in my collection, if that. I don't even know if most of them work. Its really really sad. Its not even just old games. My friends will be over and ask me "how is splinter cell?". My reply will be "I dunno".

I have yet to own a console made by Nintendo prior to the GameCube.

Have yet to get past the first 40 seconds of Space Ace.

Have yet to finish Pitfall!

My 5 year old son can kick my butt at Dead or Alive 2 (DC). (Which I really don't know anything about, but one would think I'd be able to figure something out before he kicked by butt.)

In double dragon 1 for nes, in level 5 i think it was.. You r supposed to go down or up using the stoney like walls.. Well, it took me hours and hours and eventually calling the Nintendo hotlline and asking where the hell i am supposed to go! I just never tried to press down/up while standing in front of one of them walls.

that was kinda embarrassing. For someone who called himself the gameking back then. I never told anyone untill now..:-)

On the contrary, I was a bit choked up by the SADNESS of the ending. A little bit when Rinoa's in the field of flowers, but more when Laguna's looking at Raine's grave.

Others saying here about games they haven't ever even played has prompted me to to post again. There are so many all-time great games that I've never played, it's embarassing... like GTA3/Vice City, Warcraft 3, Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, any Sonic game except the first one... I've NEVER even touched a PS2 let alone played on one and I've only ever played on a PSX once before in my life. I've never played Return to Castle Wolfenstein...hmm, what else...most Sega games I haven't played, although I have previously owned a Genny and a DC. So, I missed out on classics like Toejam & Earl, Streets of Rage, Shinobi, Ecco, etc. I've never played Nights, any of the Tomb Raider games, any Pacman game except the original, Myst, any Alone in the Dark game or any Resident Evil game... sad really.

I guess I have always been a closet Nintendo fanboy at heart, even though the DC is probably my favorite console. But, even though Nintendo have never made the best consoles, they always made the games I liked best.

You mean you play along side on the floor while people are on the machine? I used to do that until I saw someone else doing it and released how damn ridiculous it looked. Sometimes, I still catch myself doing it on instinct and have to force out the impulse to D...D..R!

I can't play Space Ace or Dragon's Layer or Brain Dead 13 to save my life.

It takes me a year and a half to beat an FF game.

I tried the disc swapping trick to play a copied game on the PS and I pulled of the black cd mount when I took the disc out.

Gee, I was going to go on about all the games I haven't played, but that's nothing compared to the other stuff in this thread. ;)

And there's nothing wrong with the first level music from Kirby's Dreamland. It's very catchy.

Almost forgot about this one.

I have a lovely, beautiful wife who came to terms long ago that she is basically married to a 12-year-old as far as hobbies are concerned. So it was shortly after I got Quake II a few years ago, I had been at it for about a week. One night I'm in my office and having a particularly hard time on Level 3 getting past one of those big thin guys who yells "Traitor!" and throws grenades.

After about a dozen attempts I got past the guy w/o cheating. I was so ecstatic I started yelling at my PC. "YEAH! Who's your daddy?! WHO'S YOUR F------G DADDY?!" Too loud, I guess, for it brought the wife in to see what all the commotion was about.

And in case you're wondering, Quake II was not my first experience with FPS games. I had already beaten Doom, Quake I and its mission packs (all without a single cheat code, I might add) But there was something about that particular night, that particular game, that brought the inner 12-year-old closer to the surface than he normally comes.

P.S. - Just got an N64 and am making my way through "Turok: Dinosaur Hunter". I can only imagine what Mrs. Retrotaku would have said if she saw me shoot a double-bird at the first boss (after beating him with only one man) then getting up to do a little dance.

Don't nobody say nuthin, `kay? :hmm:

I hated Ghosts 'N Goblins when I played it originally. I tried to convince a friend of mine not to get Ghouls 'N Ghosts for the Genesis because of my terrible experience with the original.

If you're wondering why this is a big deal, consider this: I now run The Ghoul Realm, one of the biggest G'NG sites online that I know of.

Nope, even worse: I've done that too, but I was talking about the fact that whenever I'm bored I both bounce like a boxer (I used to be in martial arts, it was part of my style) and I imitate Matsuri Japan (on MANIAC no less) and Dam Dariram (which I know on basic entirely, and I practice my small routine).

Oh, and another embarrassing moment for ya: My first crush was Chun-Li. Next came Cammie. Later on, Mai, King, and Yuri were added to that embarrassing love list. Damn, I really need a girlfriend...

The first time I went to London, I stopped at two Oxford ST. videogame stores before going to any of the Big Ben/Buckingham style landmarks.

When I was like 9 or 10, me and my sister used the "two fingers pressed together back and forth" trick to press A and B on the WC Track Meet running events, even though it would cause our fingers to get really blistered. We eventually put bandaids around the fingers before playing so we wouldn't completely ruin them.

I've spend almost a grand and a half on videogames since this year started, but played not even close of all of them.

I have little patience with games. Games that are good but start slowly (Ring of Red and Sub Rebellion are two modern ones that come to mind) are games I never end up finishing. Even since me and two buds beat Zork and Hitchhiker's Guide on the C64 back in 4th Grade, I rarely play games all the way to the end.

Well, mine wasnt reallly my fault but it sure did hurt. My family had just purchased are first NES, we had 2 games with it, SMB and Kung FU. Well anyway my cousins were over and we were all playing the NES. My one cousin is one of those players that when you need to jump you dont just push the button your whole arm's and everthing move. Well I was walking by the NES just when she was jumping in SMB, but it must have been a big jump because the nintendo console came flying at me, hitting my in the temple and completely KO 'ing me on the floor. They still laugh at me to this day about that, and that was 18 years ago.
