Resident Evil

Okay, so I'm not that up on most of the newer systems. I'd like to play the Resident Evil series. Which version of the first Resident Evil is the best one?

EDIT: Okay, I just went to the Resident Evil website (http://www.capcom.com/ResidentEvil/index2.php). Why on Earth do they not even list the Saturn as one of the platforms the game was released on?

Though I don't own it, the Gamecube version is supposed to be the ultimate.

The Game.com version comes in second. :D

I like the Gamecube version the best and it looks awesome too. I'd get that one and then when your finished you could pick up an older version just for its amazing acting. LOL

I'm currently playing Resident Evil Zero for the GC. It's the first of the series that I have played and I really like it... I don't know why I avoided this series in the past.

Okay, then... but I want to start with the first, and will have to start on a system I have. I don't have a Gamecube... so I guess we can narrow this down to:

Which is better, the Saturn or PSX version of Resident Evil? And what is the difference between Resident Evil and Resident Evil Director's Cut?

Resident Evil has one difficulty, Directors Cut has 3... I suggest you start with that. If you want to start with the best one, start with RE2... people that come new to the series this late and start with the first one are often times turned off by it because it's so fucking hard.

But yes, the Gamecube version is god damn amazing, the only recent game to absolutely blow me away, visually.

Eh, I'm masochistic, and always want to start with the first version of a game series. So which one, Saturn or PSX, people?

PSX Directors Cut is my choice.

Just stay far away from Resident evil: survivor for Psx and go with the other great Resident evil games like Resident evil for Gamecube.

Okay. I picked up Resident Evil and Zero for GameCube, like in January and I still haven't played them (too many games and too much to do otherwise). I'm sure this is something that everyone here has had happen to them. Anyway, without those two to compare, my favorite is still Residen Evil 2 on PSX (DC is okay, but I prefer the PSX controller for that game). I suggest just picking up the first one (director's cut on PSX) and start there.

When it first came out my best friends and I stayed up all night (freaked) trying to beat it in under 3 hours. Got it on the third try!
