Have you ever wondered what a game of Civilization 2 would look like after running for 10 years? According to one gamer it's a "hellish nightmare of suffering and devastation." "Lycerius" says that he's been playing the same game of Civ II off and on for over a decade. Some highlights of the marathon session include: 1700 years of war, the ice caps melting over 20 times, constant guerrilla uprisings, and "Roughly 90% of the world's population has died either from nuclear annihilation or famine caused by the global warming that has left absolutely zero arable land to farm." It's too bad you can't build the Hanging Gardens more than once. http://a.fsdn.com/sd/twitter_icon_large.png (http://twitter.com/home?status=Gamer+Keeps+Civilization+II+Game+Going +for+10+Years%3A+http%3A%2F%2Fbit.ly%2FMzX3Mn) http://a.fsdn.com/sd/facebook_icon_large.png (http://www.facebook.com/sharer.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fidle.slashdot.org%2Fstor y%2F12%2F06%2F12%2F1534202%2Fgamer-keeps-civilization-ii-game-going-for-10-years%3Futm_source%3Dslashdot%26utm_medium%3Dfaceb ook) http://www.gstatic.com/images/icons/gplus-16.png (http://plus.google.com/share?url=http://idle.slashdot.org/story/12/06/12/1534202/gamer-keeps-civilization-ii-game-going-for-10-years?utm_source=slashdot&utm_medium=googleplus)

That is kind of interesting. I think it is good that the game continues and doesn't just stop or crash.

I'm sure that they save the game regularly and reboot the PC regularly.

I'm sure that they save the game regularly and reboot the PC regularly.

Not only that, but it clearly states that they only played the same game "off and on" for over a decade. It's not like they kept it running and committed their whole life to the endeavor.

When I mentioned the game stopping or crashing, I was referring to it not being able to go any further because of a programing issue. For example, Pac-Man level 256.
