What is known about the Silent Hill PSOne variants? I have looked on ebay for the shiny version, but I can not find any that are specifically listed as such. Also, a quick Google search shows nothing. Even the Silent Hill wiki does not acknowledge the variants.

Let's hear about it DP.

Or...you could just ask the person who took the photo. :)

Silent Hill's shiny manual version was more than likely the first shipment - the regular version the second printing. Star Ocean has the same catch - first print run CDs had shiny to them, 2nd printing were normal.

SH's GH also has a variant that has a SLUS of SLUS-xxxxx GHA, rather than just GH.

What exactly do you mean by "shiny" version? Does the variation have a reflective, foil-like cover or just an extra glossy finish to it? I'll keep an eye out for it when I make the rounds this week.

It's not quite glossy, and not quite foil - like, if you took a grey crayon and a silver crayon and compared them on paper. the 'shiny' has a sheen to it.

I'd heard of Silent Hill but not Star Ocean, and I didn't see a page for that up already on Game-Rave. Off topic a bit, but do you have any pictures of the Star Ocean one you mentioned?

Very cool, thanks for the info. Now to check which version I've got!

Is there any difference on the inserts or just the discs?

I'm not sure what you mean by this. Could you clarify this some more?

I'm not sure what you mean by this. Could you clarify this some more?

1. Greatest Hit Releases at first had the same SLUS / SCUS designation (example: SLUS-12345)
2. Somewhere along the line, they started adding GH to them (so it become SLUS-12345 GH)
3. Metal Gear and Silent hill both have variants where it is SLUS-12345 GHA. I think these were Blockbuster reprints.

Hi my friend,

I am a big fan of the Silent Hill franchise and I didnīt know a variant exist... Until today I found it.

This is the photo of the two cover variants (just the front cover, the back are the same) this disc has no differences too.

The variant is just in the front cover the first release is "metallic"

Makes you wonder how someone could keep track of the production of each. Or why make them different to begin with.

I only ask because I have 2 death Jr games for the psp. And the boxart and upcs are different. One is foil like with an 8 ending its code and the other is a matte finish with a 1 ending its barcode.

Im wondering if one came with a bundle or what. The foil Death jr sells for 5 complete. While the matte death jr sells for double to sometimes triple that.

The box arts are different because there was a LE for Death Jr.

The SLUS would be the same because it's the same game. Just a 'LE' moniker slapped on the game. What often denotes a new SLUS is a different version of the game. I'm guessing Sony got lazy and didn't care because the only difference is with the packaging and extras, vs having anything different game wise. Heck, they used the same manuals for both version.
