Not sure if this should be Classic or Modern, but whatever:

It seems to me that games based on Pixar movies tend to universally suck. Is there any one of them that has ever stood out?

Toy Story for Genesis and SNES is a bit of a "standard" 16-bit platformer, but it's good. I'd say it's probably the best, though I haven't played all of them. The only others I've played have been pretty lame.

I think i've only played Toy Story (Genny) and Bugs Life on PlayStation. Neither stood out as anything all that grand.

The only decent ones are based off of Toy Story, this includes Toy Story 3.

They just tend to make them generic platformers/brawlers. I wonder what they will do when they make that movie based on the Day of the Dead...

Toy Story 3 is hands down the best, in my opinion. Though some of the Cars games were decent, too. I could be biased though, as Cars is prolly my favorite movie of ever.

I won't get into my opinion of the Cars films, but Cars/Cars 2 and Toy Story 3 did have decent video games.

Is Over the Hedge Pixar? I heard that game was halfway decent.

That's Dreamworks.

I personally enjoyed Toy Story 2 for Nintendo 64 quite a bit.

I've always felt that Toy Story on the Snes/Genesis was one of the last great licensed games of its era. It followed the storyline pretty well and had some pretty inventive level concepts like the Pizza Planet levels.

As an N64 collector I acquired a complete copy of A Bug's Life a few years ago. Man, I can still remember when I saw the movie in theaters when I was 8 and being jealous that there was a game for the PS1 and not the 64 at the time. It didn't come out on the 64 until about 8 months later and by then I couldn't care less. Anyway, after I bought the game I remember being really enjoying it for the first few levels and being pretty amazed by all the tasks you could complete. Then suddenly my interest level flatlined at around the 4th level and I haven't picked it up since.

I played the demo for Toy Story 2 on the PS1 first and really liked it. I found it to be really neat exploring the house and taking on interesting challenges like Racing RC in the Garage to earn a pizza planet token. I later rented the N64 game and didn't get into it very much. Then I purchased the DC version from the same video store got bored with it during the 2nd level. Heh. I also rented the GBC game from the same store and didn't like it at all.

I found Monster's Inc for the PS1 to be a pretty delightful late release.

I was pretty disappointed with Finding Nemo. In fact, none of the underwater games (Nemo, Shamu and Shark Tale) are anything to write home about.

At first I liked the variation in The Incredibles but I felt it dragged out some parts of the movie too much. I actually liked Rise of the Underminer a lot more. It's a traditional beat em up where you can switch between Mr. Incredible and Frozone and their in game repartee is surprisingly non-redundant.

Cars reminded me of the glory days of Disney games on the 16-bit consoles. It doesn't follow the story very much, but it has the original voice cast and lots of objectives involving many of the characters. I collected all the trophies in that game.

I also have Ratatouillie but haven't played far enough into it to formulate much of an opinion.

Finding Nemo:Escape to the Big Blue and Up for the DS were fun games, but I like the company that developed them(Altron),so that played a small part in my enjoyment

Altron also developed Finding Nemo:The Continuing Adventures for the GBA,which is similiar to Escape to the Big Blue. It`s also a solid little game

toy story 3 for ps3 (and what i assume would be xbox to) was the fucking shit!

lol part of the reason i seem so amped up was probably because i walked in with really low expectations for it, it was my nephews game and i just assumed it was a quick cash in to take advantage of little kids and parents who buy them for them not knowing any better

i was pleasantly surprised, game was actually really fun

Yep, that and a film that takes place inside the human mind are the two unnamed Pixar films. Both currently set for a 2015 release.

Wall.e for both PS2 and DS. The DS one was an isometric top down puzzle platformer and the PS2 one was more of an action platformer. Bothe were well made and enjoyable. I just learned there are current gen home console versions of the game too so maybe they're also good?

I rented it for PS3 with Sonic 2006 back in 2008. I liked both back then, so take that any way you want.

The first Cars game was quite a bit of fun. Laid back racing in an open world so the kids could explore Radiator Springs at their own pace. Nailed the license for sure, and worked at the heart of the movie's message.

Let's be clear that this is based on the Mexican holiday Day of the Dead, not the zombie Romero film alongside Night/Dawn of the Dead =P

The only Pixar game I've actually played, I think, is the Game Boy version of the first Toy Story, and that game's awful. It's basically a port of the SNES/Genesis game, but they focused on graphics much above gameplay, and the game's so slow and glacial it's almost unplayable. Seriously, the framerate is absurdly low. It's got some iffy hit detection too (I particularly remember how hard it is sometimes to knock down those walls in the early level where you have to free several characters, but it's a general issue), LONG lagtime between pressing the button and the character actually moving (seriously, he doesn't even start his jump until after I've let go of the button...), weak SGB features (background, minor audio enhancements, that's it; no preset palettes)... yeah. I've not played the SNES or Genesis versions, but I've always really disliked the GB version. Also, as a kid I had trouble figuring out what to do with some of the mission objectives, but the above problems made that a lot worse.

Though, they did cancel Newt because it's story was too similar to others.

Specifically, Rio. Guess Pixar doesn't want to be confused for Dreamworks.

I've always heard the first Cars game was good. Was it on 360 or was that the original Xbox ?

Both, it was released on literally every system available in June 2006 and for the Wii at launch.

Yeah, except that Rio wasn't Dreamworks, it was Blue Sky.;)
