Nevermind. It can use any capacitive stylus.
Although a novelty, I wanted to try out a stylus on paint park since using your fingers is pretty much impossible to do anything.

Just be sure to get a decent stylus. There are still a shit-ton of god-awful styluses out there right now.
Avoid the no-name 99 cent Hong Kong junk on eBay you'll likely wind up with something that only works with a significant amount of pressure and isn't made of a capacitive material that glides across a smooth surface properly.
"Five Below" stores typically have iHome or Case Logic iPad styluses that are the good soft round rubber tip variety.

Would the 3DS stylus work fine on the Vita? If I get a Vita I might just do that if it won't harm the screen.

No.
DS = Resistive touch screen (requires physical pressure from an object like a plastic tipped stylus)
Vita = Capacitive touch screen (requires conductive matter like human skin)
The type of stylus that we're discussing are for capacitive screens and they have rubber that will simulate the conductivity of skin.
