I am curious as to whether the title screen
mentioned in the DP guide ( title screen says Draughts )
has been proven to exist.

I have two copy's and both carts display the
title screen saying checkers, I have talked to
others who have a copy and so far no one
has the Draughts title screen.

Thanks
Drew

I saw one go for ebay a year or so ago, pretty sure they showed the opening screen shot. You have ot remember it's a VERY rare game, you're not likely to EVER see one unless you're specifically hunting it down.

Draughts does NOT exist in authentic cartridge form. Every single boxed Mattel Draughts contained a "Checkers" cartridge inside. These cartridges had the same purple "Checkers" cart labels and the same "Checkers" overlays as the USA version of Checkers. However, Draughts did contain its own Draughts instruction manual, but it is almost identical to the USA Checkers manual, one of the differences being the printed game title on the front cover to the manual of course.

If anyone REALLY saw a "Draughts" title screen before, it was most likely a hack. It isn't too terribly difficult for a programmer to make the standard Mattel title screen say anything he/she wants. Furthermore, there could even be an entire hacked Draughts ROM image out there on the internet somewhere, but again, I wouldn't believe it was real until I actually had the cart to look at.

There is a different interesting fact about Checkers. There is a report that 2 different ROM images of Checkers exist, but both contain "Checkers" title screens. Supposedly, the ROM image of Checkers on the Intellivision Lives! CD is slightly different from the ROM image of Checkers in a standard cartridge. The difference is in sound only. This report states that the Intellivision "Razzz" sound occurs or doesn't occur more often in one of the versions as compared to the other. This can happen when the player tries to make an illegal move or press an incorrect button on the hand controller. I haven't personally checked this out, but the credible info (from Ian H and Joe Z) on it is here:
