Hey guys, this might sound pathetic but..
I am very picky about my SNES cartridges. They have to have the nice silver screws and nice clean back-plates.
That being said,
Should I feel bad for dismantling sports game for their screws/plates, and throwing them out?
Will anyone EVER want these? Will I somehow cause the games to become rare? lmao!

Ugly ones in bulk should sell to repro makers who need boards or whatever. Likely good sram batteries in many of them if nothing else.

Holy crap, that's a great idea!!! Thanks!
I still have no idea who would be interested in these chips/cartridge pieces. Is there anyone on the board who makes repros?

What sport games are you talking about? I might be willing to take some of 'em off of your hands.

Doesn't make much sense throwing them out. Just swap the screws/plates. Then all the sports games will have the bad ones, but they'll still be whole, usable carts that someone could take an interest in. Worst case scenario, dump them off at a Goodwill. No need to fill up our landfills with 'em.

I ended up making an auction for them =/
I'll see if anyone bids.
It ended up being 9 SRAM chips, some back plates, small chips, and a bag of screws.

I have done this but sometimes it is hard to match up the exact amount of yellowing between the back and the label side.

Why go to that length? Working boards should still play with the screws and plastic case taken off.

why didn't you just put the sports games back together with the uglier backs and screws and sell them as a lot????

Can't you just switch the components of both cartridges? You may have a bunch of dirty sports games in the end, but I don't see why you would throw them away.

Oh guys!
The point wasn't that I need to fix up my SNES carts, the carts in my collection already have nice back plates and silver screws. I just needed to determine if I should toss the crappy sports chips, or if any one wanted those things for whatever uses they can serve. Thanks!

Leave the whole circuit board intact, then place it into a dirty case. Ugly games will still play. Much less hassle to sell sports games that work in bulk.
As opposed to going through the wasteful tedium of pulling components off each sports game's board, forever killing how they were meant to be played.
