I haven't done this yet, but just found out you can get Blockbuster Total Access for six months for free. I'm not sure if you have to cancel the auto renewal before the last month is up or if you can right after you apply. Six months of free games and movies though, so I'd say it's worth it.

Might be good if most of the Blockbusters around you haven't closed yet. :P

... Didn't they go bankrupt and close? Even the rental kiosks in my hometown are gone.

A few stores are left. There were 7 on the Eastern side of Cincinnati, now there are only 3, for example.

There is one kiosk within walking distance of my apartment and one store left in this city, about 15 minutes away.
That said, still not really worth it to me. The game selection sucks and I pirate most of my movies these days. I find that most of these mail order movie/game things just don't work out in my head. Like GameFly, which I keep thinking about trying. Doesn't seem like that much of a deal to me.

Signed up, loaded a bunch of games and a few movies. Moved the movies up the list as they were "available" and they are apparently sending me a game I wanted the least first anyway. Oh well, it's free, and I kind of doubt they'll even still exist in 6 months, so why not.
If this is supposed to get people interested in the service, it's a terrible plan. The selection sucks pretty damn hard and the availability is even worse, which will only be compounded by thousands of people signing up for free, so all the new customers (like myself) will only get a bad impression of the service. I sure won't be continuing service after the 6 months, that's for sure. But for now, for free, sure why not.

They went bankrupt and closed down in Canada, they're still clinging to life in the US for now. Even with their going out of business sale in Canada, I still found their pricing way too high.

I've always wondered how owners of a company are allowed to drive a company into the ground and still make millions in salary and bonus' a year.
CEO: We're going further in debt but my bank account keeps increasing. It's over 9000 million(or nine billion!)

Blockbuster did go into bankruptcy and was acquired by Dish Network in 2011.

Dish is basically keeping what remains of Blockbuster running as a way of trying to sell satellite TV service.

3 stores near me closed last year. I got quite a few deals from their going out of business sales. One of them remodeled and reopened a few months later.

It's called an employment contract. "Keyes' employment contract is for a three-year term, with an annual salary of no less than $750,000" That was in '07. He wasn't the one who drove the company into the ground, it was well on it's way and he was given 3 years to fix it. Not that I'm defending a CEO...it's just that the facts weren't quite straight.
