Hello everyone,

Recently I've got my hands on a Sega Saturn Model 1, and now I want to mod it.
So I hit google and searched about the 60Hz mod for it, but I can't seem to find a tutorial in which the Sega Saturn Model 1 is stated, only Model 2.

But I'm also not sure if the region free mod is meant for the Saturn Model 1 or not..
It seems to be the hard one out of the two or three models release to find information about.

Do you guys have any links to tutorials or a picture of a Model 1 60hz mod and region mod?

Thanks in advance guys!

Cheers,

The region free BIOS works great in model 1s; I've installed several and they work fine so long as you're a very seasoned solderer. It is ridiculously easy to lift a trace rendering the Saturn useless.

Never bothered with a 50/60hz mod. Unless you're in Pal land there is absolutely no point to it.

50hz is just to fix compatibility with some pal games. As I understand a pal optimized game at 60hz may have the top & bottom cut off, or speed related issues.

IIRC NiGHTS was PAL optimized and runs like crap in 60hz mode. Unless you've got a PAL title that was PAL optimized and unreleased in the US there isn't much reason to bother.

Thanks guys, the Saturn is PAL, and I just really want the 60hz mod and Region Free mod. :)

I can just use the mmmonkey guide for the 50/60hz mod on the model1?

Can I also use the Bios (region free) mod on model 1?

Than it would be easier than I thought.. :P
