Besides eBay.amazon is out and I have no idea where to look.there is the retro game EXPO comming to Vegas so I'm hoping I can find one there for around $200. You guys think that's possible?

The marketplace forum at Neo-Geo.com. For $200 you can usually get a used console, power supply, video cable and a joystick. Maybe even a common game if you're lucky.

Yeah or even on here or Atariage marketplace forums. You should only pay $400-$500 if the system comes with its box otherwise $200-300 depending on what it comes with. Some of the oldest games are only $30.

Nowhere. Because it's a bad idea.

When you consider the time and risk of buying from an unknown seller, eBay is a viable option, but the 1st choice should be Neo-Geo.com. Otherwise check Hit-Japan on eBay. His shipping prices have been getting higher but I think its related to him insisting on adding tracking. You can also try Crag's list but that could take forever.

Also, what are you looking for?

1. Any region loose system?
2. Any region boxed system?
3. A modified system with Unibios, video output mods, etc?

For 2 & 3 (and any combinations of), most definitely go to the neo-geo.com marketplace forums.

For option 1 you can kinda get it "almost" anywhere and can be had for peanuts (relatively speaking of course).

It gets pricey when you want mint, boxed, looking for a specific serial number range and fully decked out with modifications.

Aren't boxed non-Japanese systems, vastly more expensive?

Mine which I sold to a member here was $599 Amazon.com in 2007, with an extra joystick, Blue's Journey, NAM-1975, and Magician Lord all 3 being in like new shape. There was no manual in the box though.

And oh yeah getting an AES isn't really a waste. If anything you'll be able to sell most anything you buy for it for the price you paid further down the line should you give up collecting for it at some point. If you have fat pockets right now, go for it. If you lose your awesome job / change your living situation someone else can buy it.

I shouldn't advertise this because I'm looking to grab the system myself, but someone in our own trading forum was selling an AES... I think he still has it.
