Japanes Mega Drive cheat codes

I've got quite a few Japanese Mega Drive cart and finding codes has been hit or miss as some are apparently different than their U.S. versions.
(Not Game Genie codes, just original ones within the game originally).

Is there a better site than Gamewinners or GameFAQs or if I can't find them there am I pretty much out of luck?
I guess I should be looking for a Japanese site.

Just curious, some games ( looking at you shooters ), have me frazzled. Most notably Kyuukyoku Tiger, A.K.A. twin Cobra.

I have general advice which may or may not help depending on the game, of course. Search for the game's name in Japanese form with the word 攻略 which means walkthrough. Hopefully the search results will guide you to some sites where people have written guides. I've found some very nice sites this way and very little info for other games so results clearly vary. Might be related to a game's popularity, ha. :roll:

I would assume a nice guide also documents things such as hidden codes and such.

I checked into the Twin Cobra cheats for you. It turns out the button combinations are the same in the Japanese version, but the title screen layout changed between the two versions.

Kyuukyoku Tiger
On the blue title screen with the helicopter, press Start. The background changes to green. Now enter a code.

up down right left Start - stage select
up down right left A Start - upgrade weapon
up down right left B Start - 8 bombs
up down right left A B C Start - view ending

For the weapon and bomb codes, when the game starts pause and resume for the upgrades to take effect. If you crash or run low on bombs, pause and enter the cheats again for refills.

Hope that information helps. What are the other Mega Drive games are you having trouble finding the missing codes for?

Mostly shooters,....none as difficult as Twin Cobra though.
I need to play that after shotgunning a thermos of coffee 1st thing in the morning so my reaction time has a shot playing legit.

If there's something coded in the original game I'd like to at least give it a try.

Maybe they're just not there.
I know most 16 bit games had codes but maybe some just didn't.
