jones_supa writes "Gamasutra editor Eric Schwarz gives thought to the constantly increasing amount of graphical detail in computer games. He notes how the cues leading the player can be hindered too much if they drown in the surroundings, making it harder for the game to hint whether the player is making progress. Consistent visual language helps to categorize various objects, making their meaning more obvious. Paths through the game world can be difficult to read simply due to dense vegetation. For some cases 'obfuscation through detail' can also actually work really well. Schwarz challenges us to ponder how the amount of detail makes a game either more or less enjoyable."http://a.fsdn.com/sd/twitter_icon_large.png (http://twitter.com/home?status=How+Much+Detail+Is+Too+Much+For+Games% 3F%3A+http%3A%2F%2Fbit.ly%2FMzqQa4)http://a.fsdn.com/sd/facebook_icon_large.png (http://www.facebook.com/sharer.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fgames.slashdot.org%2Fsto ry%2F12%2F08%2F01%2F2057224%2Fhow-much-detail-is-too-much-for-games%3Futm_source%3Dslashdot%26utm_medium%3Dfaceb ook)http://www.gstatic.com/images/icons/gplus-16.png (http://plus.google.com/share?url=http://games.slashdot.org/story/12/08/01/2057224/how-much-detail-is-too-much-for-games?utm_source=slashdot&utm_medium=googleplus)

Enjoying an excellent game is the greatest life experience for game players I think, since I am a person like that. I have spent so much energy to find a suitable pc game that fine to me. I have played games for many years. I know the developing history of the game area. My heart for games has kept calm for many years and now my calming heart has shivered by the coming game-Guild Wars 2. It is a new game in this year that sequel of Guild Wars. In this game, I have found that it is a slow jorney to fight enough Guild Wars 2 Gold with a short time, while you have to spend some gw2 gold to do something you like. So after my first weekend beta experience, I started my gold serching jorney. I have found some many gw2 gold traders through Google that input the "GW2 Gold" in its Search Bar. After some filterings, I am highly recommending you the site http://picard.ytmnd.com/ to buy Guild Wars 2 Gold. I realize its gold is much cheaper than any other sites. You will find what I've said is really true after you experience their cheap gw2 gold service!

Too much detail? No such thing, but gameplay should always be first, not at the expense of developers focusing too much on graphics and ignoring play mechanics and bugs.

Too much detail can be a bad thing when it obfuscates the necessary visual cues as to what parts of an environment are interactive and which are just visual flair. Final Fantasy VII added that finger pointer thing because the prerendered environments sometimes made it difficult to find doors and shit. And we've all played those platformers where you can't tell what you can jump on and what you can't.
