dartttt writes "John Carmack recently presented a keynote at QuakeCon. He said Linux is still not a commercially viable gaming platform, and the two forays they have made into the Linux commercial market have not been successful. Valve's announcement about Steam for Linux changes things a bit, but it remains a tough sell."http://a.fsdn.com/sd/twitter_icon_large.png (http://twitter.com/home?status=John+Carmack%3A+Kudos+To+Valve%2C+But+ Linux+Is+Still+Not+a+Viable+Gaming+Market%3A+http% 3A%2F%2Fbit.ly%2FRyHGab)http://a.fsdn.com/sd/facebook_icon_large.png (http://www.facebook.com/sharer.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fgames.slashdot.org%2Fsto ry%2F12%2F08%2F04%2F1752248%2Fjohn-carmack-kudos-to-valve-but-linux-is-still-not-a-viable-gaming-market%3Futm_source%3Dslashdot%26utm_medium%3Dface book)http://www.gstatic.com/images/icons/gplus-16.png (http://plus.google.com/share?url=http://games.slashdot.org/story/12/08/04/1752248/john-carmack-kudos-to-valve-but-linux-is-still-not-a-viable-gaming-market?utm_source=slashdot&utm_medium=googleplus)

I haven't followed this story much but did Gaben give a real reason why Windows 8 is so disastrous for gaming?

All i recall are some vague quotes are that it is and not how it is.
