Could someone fill me in on exactly how this was used and such? I just found two in an antique store and I never actually had one nor saw one used when it was current... I'd like to test them to see if they work but don't know a ton about them other than that they are used with Gyromite and Stackup.

You set ROB up so he can "see" the screen.

With both games, there are various devices that attach to ROB - you'll see little slots at his base. The NES controllers figure in to the whole setup too.

Gyromite: you "instruct" ROB to drop the Gyros into a spinner, then onto color coded levers that in turn press down on the NES controller buttons. (You'll need batteries for the spinner). If you let ROB let the gyros stop spinning, they'll fall off the levers and chaos ensues! You have to juggle everything to allow the Prof to progress through the screens.

Stack Up - basically the same thing, but with the spinniness replaced by stackiness.

Wow... higher tech and more prone to failure than I would have thought. No wonder they scrapped it so quickly. Looks like I am not in a position to test them any time soon since I don't have anything except the robots themselves and I know how much gyromite and stackup sell for with the pieces...

You can still test out the actual ROB units - plug in some batteries and run the test mode deal in either of the ROB games. The up/down movement (his arms should raise and lower so he can pick up the various items) was often the first thing to fail. At least then you'll know if they work before you hunt down the rest of the parts. :)

Oooh, good information. Of course now I have to get a working NES. I have like 5 of them but don't think any of them aren't giant blinkers... hell, I even bought a 'new' connector off ebay that turned out worse than the one that was already in there.

I think it was a cool idea in a way. It kind of ended up stupid though. I wanna get both of those games boxed and a boxed rob. But they're pretty pricey pieces. Hey well see what CGE brings.

BTW- That was a pretty nice find.

Yeah, I'm pretty psyched about that... they were $10 each, but I definitely wanted them and had no problem with that price.

They are cool. ROB came with gyromite, two gyro's (with warning carts on each.) some ROB "shades" and 3 platforms (gyro motor, 2 gyro stands in one item, and the pad for the controller)

Stack-up is really hard to come by complete.. almost always you just find a loose cart (like Miracle Piano.)

ROB makes Gyromite actually hard.

Here is my ROB.. only thing he is missing are his "shades"

Mighty cool. I must get a good complete ROB now.
