My favorite part of Monkey Ball 2 is the Monkey racing. However, I've mastered the few levels that are available and it made me hungry for a good racing game on the Cube.
I know Zero and Kart:DD are coming out soon, but I want something now. I've heard good things about Burnout 2, and wanted to see if anyone here had experiences with this (or any other) racing game.
I really like the Monkey Ball/Kart type racing more than straight Simulator type stuff. What do you guys recommend?

I recommend buying the original Burnout, because it is a great game and you should find it under $20 used price. Play it, enjoy it, beat it, then trade it in for Burnout 2.
I do not recommend Extreme G III however. It isn't bad but has "launch game" written all over it, hence I recommend you merely rent it if anything.
Lots of people love WaveRace and I regularly see it at $14.99 too.
Other than that, there are 2 Rally games which I assume are sucky, and F-Zero is due out soon isn't it?

The Burnout games are cool! Very fast arcade racers with crisp controls and wicked crashes. Pick up and play games with no learning curve for any seasoned racing fan.

Most of the games on this list you'll want to avoid so read the reviews to get a taste of the game and the final review score.
Happy racing! :)

Waverace. It's a classic, just like the N64 version, which is a good thing. By the time you beat it you'll be marveling at the wonder of F-Zero. And by the time you beat that you'll be kicking four-player ass in Mario Kart.

Get F-Zero GX when it comes out next month in the US... it is just fucking amazing 8-)
I've only had it a week and I've already put in more than 50 hours so far :D

What about Need For Speed 2? I have been thinking about picking this one up myself...

You mean NFS: HP2?
I owned the GC version of that game for a couple days and returned it (i love EB's return policy). It looks great but the controls are floaty, frame rates get choppy and it has a poor sense of speed. However I did pick up the PS2 version of NFS:HP2 and I play it all the time. Great frame rates and great controls. The best version to get!
