View Full Version : Should I be Worried? - Priority Tracking Not Updating

So I dropped off a box yesterday at the post office and it needs to be at the customer's home within 5 days.
Unfortunately...the tracking doesn't even say it was scanned....and this worries me. I dropped it off this time yesterday and the tracking doesn't even say it was accepted, as if I never even dropped it off.
Is this normal with priority? Should I be worried?
This is the first time I've printed a priority label from home on eBay.
All I did was enter in the dimensions and weight, and mark it as priority and put the sticker right on top of the box.

I wouldn't worry about it. I ship a lot and usually print my own labels. Sometimes there are status updates en route, sometimes not. I think it's technically just a delivery confirmation number anyway... not tracking. So, their only obligation is to update upon delivery.

I don't know, the fact that it's never been scanned worries me. It's insured, but if nothing ever updates then it's the same thing as if I never shipped if it. How do you prove you sent something out if it never updates?
Maybe I'm just worrying, but this just seems very strange to me.

Another package I printed the same day says it was scanned, but the main one still says nothing.
Is it possible they stole it when they saw it said insured?
EDIT: well it FINALLY updated, 29 and a half hours later, and it updates.
I guess priority just doesn't update as fast as first class does.

Tracking does not update on first class packages before priority as a matter of policy. Not sure what happened here but that wasn't it.
The postal service does screw up the delivery confirmation process from time to time. I recently had a batch of packages marked as DELIVERED at the local post office I'd dropped them off at. They all ended up at their respective destinations but tracking never said as much (...because it thought my local post office was the destination). Sucks as a seller but there isn't much to be done about it.

I have the same issue right now. Dropped off a Parcel on August 2nd, hasn't updated since it was leaving my local PO. Buyer hasn't received it yet and I may have to talk to someone on Monday about it. Not my fault and he knows that but still, you never want a customer waiting on a package.
It's unfortunate I live in the middle of nowhere and the nearest UPS is 20+ minutes away and is only open two hours a day. Pickup isn't really an option due to hectic schedules.
It's not an uncommon problem. Sometimes Postal workers decide to half-ass the process.

When you drop it off at the post office have them scan it, and give you a receipt. This what I do, and I have never had a problem.
