View Full Version : Seemingly odd Gameboy Player question...

Is there any way possible to display the old Gameboy titles in their original monochrome glory with the player? If you plug in an old title such as SUper Mario Land for example, the BIOS registers as a Gameboy Color and adds a few colors to the game. Same with other mono-only titles I have tried. Some may wonder why I would want it displayed in monochrome, and my answer is originality! The way I remember the oldies is like this! I didn't see any option for it, and I doubt it exists, but it's worth asking I suppose.

Sure.. just like in a regular Gameboy color (and in the GBA for that matter), there are Button combinations you can run through in the beginning to get various color combinations when playing original GB carts. And one of them is the original B&W (in various flavors I might add).. i.e. pure black and white, greenish lcd tinge, and others. So, you just do the same thing on GBA Player.

Anyway, here are the colors. I forget which one looks most like the original GB. But one certainly does. (maybe it was left +B?)

Combination Background Color 1 Color 2
None Green, Blue Red Red
Up Brown Brown Brown
Up + A Red Green Blue
Up + B Dark Brown Brown Brown
Left Blue Green Red
Left + A Dark Blue Red Blue
Left + B Green Green Green
Down Yellow, Red, Blue Yellow, Red, Blue Yellow, Red, Blue
Down + A Yellow, Red Yellow, Red Yellow, Red
Down + B Yellow Blue Green
Right Green, Red Green, Red Green, Red
Right + A Green, Blue Red Red
Right + B Invert Invert Invert

Thanks! This was the exact info I was looking for. See, I was never even aware of this feature. Thanks again!

Instructions? What are those? :) And everyone wonders why 99% of the time my instruction manuals are in mint, uncreased condition. Because I never read em! LOL

NO! This was one thing that dissapointed me about the Gameboy Advance Player.. as far as I could tell, there was no Super Gameboy support!

So any GBC games that had borders doesn't show up. And any game (like Space Invaders) that had the full blown SNES version in it, don't show up
