Don't know, but it basically would have turned it into a Master System.

I asked the same question some time ago. Actually I think I was more interested if there was a way to use game gear carts on a master system or something but whatever.
Anyways, it is possible to hook a game gear up to a TV. I don't know how, but Mike from Cinemassacre did a few game gear reviews using a game gear he had modded to use on a TV.
Google is your friend! See what you can't find out :) Good luck!
Or you could always run an emulator on a console such as Dreamcast or Wii so you can play on the big screen too.

The SMS and Genesis can only output 512 different colours, but the GG supports 4096. That seems to be the only problem.
I suppose they could have made a GG-->32X adaptor, for the ultimate Segazord.

I've seen videos of modded Game Gears.
For some reason the picture doesn't fill the screen.
It's boxed in the middle.
A ratio problem?
Here's a vid of a mod.

Stretching the Game Gear's resolution to full screen would look pretty nasty.

"Sadly the guy no longer does this mod - a shame as he did a great job." :(
All I want is for someone to offer this type of mod to the public, or to sell modded systems. I would pay good money for this, and I don't want to do it myself.

It's not really a problem.
GG games are basically SMS games that play in a small window in the centre of the video area.
If you plugged in a SMS game using a converter, it would be fullscreen.

I know a guy from Europe that does the mod, but only when he has time to which has become less and less often lately. Apparently this guy and the one who did it for Mike are not the same person. Perhaps the one who did it for Mike would be willing to make more of them. It usually costs at least $100 to do it though. I wish the people who do it would post some more detailed guides so more people would learn how and then offer the service. The people doing the mods could make a lot of money. A modded system paired with a Game Gear Everdrive would be excellent. People also tend to forget just how many games the Game Gear has that are different or exclusive from the Master System.
Smspower.org is the place to visit for this. A chap called viletim makes the board for it. I made a consolised GG about 3 or so years ago using this board. Also chucked an lcd screen in one for lol's. Great as a portable sms, not so as a GG due to the ratio issue.

Well, if you have a big screen TV the ratio issue isn't much of a problem. Then it's just like looking at a normal size TV in the middle of your big one.

Don't a lot of big-screen TVs have manual zoom functions these days anyway?
