You'll be able to play a kinda new version soon. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD will arrive on PSN August 28.

"The PC version will come soon after," developer Robomodo said on its Facebook page. "Exact date to be shared as soon as we know it." The game was a timed exclusive on Xbox 360 last month as part of the Summer of Arcade (http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/19/xbla-summer-of-arcade-2012-detailed-tony-hawk-kick-flips-it-of/), where it has met with success (http://www.joystiq.com/2012/07/27/tony-hawks-pro-skater-hd-earns-120k-sales/).http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif (http://www.joystiq.com)Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD comes to PSN August 28, PC afterward (http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/13/tony-hawks-pro-skater-hd-comes-to-psn-august-28-pc-afterward/) originally appeared on Joystiq (http://www.joystiq.com) on Mon, 13 Aug 2012 17:30:00 EST. I tried the demo for 360 version and it didn't trip my trigger. The graphics don't seem to be a huge upgrade, at least in my eyes as I'm hurtling Tony's body up and down half-pipes and along rails. They added in the "sway" bar/indicators where you can adjust your skater's position whenever you grind, do a handstand, etc. Not sure when these came into play but it felt really out of place when playing the first level from the original THPS. Then again, that's me who still plays the originals from time to time.

I did get a kick out of the bit of "modernization" they did to the game: the hidden tapes are no longer tapes but DVDs, which are these big silver icons just spinning happily where ever they are hidden. When sailing through the air in the demo, it just looked like some bright blob and it took a few passes just to see what the hell I was looking at.

Might give this one a shot if the demo is any good.

The last Tony Hawk game I really enjoyed was Underground 1. The varied levels, mechanics, and storyline especially were surprisingly great to play through, its too bad I haven't seen one since that captured that same spirit.
