Zoop and Upwords are sealed the rest are complete, except for sharky's pool, it's missing the disks, but has alll the inserts. I'm a sucker for old pc games, especially when boxed!

I loaded up my car today and headed to the flea market to sell some crap before I move. Unfortunately, the poor Saturn sedan cannot hold everything and I was forced to leave many things at the house. Still made $140 though, so I can't complain. Easier than transporting it to my new house.

Found a couple of things too:

$2 - Copy of Sonic Chaos (GG)
$5 - vintage Akai cassette player
$15 - vintage Yamaha turntable in box
$5 - vintage Sherwood 70 + 70 SCA-2100 car amp

My uncle (who came with me) lucked out and found a $100 pair of Steiner binoculars for $3. He also got a huge crate of PS2 games and a system for $30. The Akai and Yamaha should be easy flips before I move and the Sherwood is going in my car as I blew my last Sherwood. You can't find that vintage sound anymore.

I saw a lot of things, way too expensive though. Some lady was trying to sell me a loose white 360 for $75 and there was a controller sitting on top. She said that was an extra $20 and it was so cheap because "it didn't have the battery". Then you had a lady selling loose PS2's for $35 and another lady who wanted $50 for a copy of Skyrim because "GameStop sells it for $55". Oh, and I had a conversation with a man whom I believe was intoxicated that told me he had been selling on eBay since '89 (yes, eighty) and was complaining about them holding his money. I liked him though as he bought $20 worth of loot from me.

Red GBA SP system with carrying case and....charger!!! :o
Namco Museum(GBA)
Mario Kart: Super Circuit(GBA)
Mario Party Advance(GBA)
Legend of Zelda(GBA)
Super Mario Advance 4(GBA)

This was a craigs list find that I got for $30 total. Theres some good stuff in there but I was just surpirsed that I finally found a GBA SP in the wild that actually came with it's charger. Super Mario Advance 4 even included the sealed packs of e-reader cards.

Thin book shelf $10

This was from Goodwill the other day and it's cheaper than the white one I got a few months ago there. That one was of better quality since this one's shelf holders prevent you from stacking things flush against the edges because of their bulkiness. I would much rather have the normal size bookshelves but because my space is a bit limited I need to stick to these for now. When I move again next year I'll be able to get more big shelves.

http://i494.photobucket.com/albums/rr306/THE-1-2-P/GEDC1850.jpg

Mario Kart 64(N64) $4
Fifty Shades II: Darker book $1.50
Brute Force book 50 cents
Magic Knight Rayearth season one dvd $4
Star Wars Republic Commando: Hard Contact book 50 cents
Star Wars Republic Commando: Triple Zero book 50 cents
Crimson Skies book 50 cents
Penthouse Interactive Virtual Photo Shoot 1-3(PC) $5

With the exception of the photo shoot disc all of this stuff was from Goodwill. That Mario Kart 64 cart has one of the most messed up labels ever. It was peeling and ripped on the back and the front. I'm not sure what the previous owner was trying to do but it looks like a trauma unit victim. The Brute Force and Crimson Skies books are nice oddities. They were both released around when the first Halo novel released but because their games weren't nearly as popular as Halo they became lost to time while Halo continues to get new novels even today 11 years later. The part of MD where I work(and use to live) had banned all the Fifty Shades novels over the summer from all the county libraries because parents were complaining that they were pornographic in nature, which pretty much translates to: theres a sex scene in the book and I don't want little Junior to read it. I'm sure by the time I finish this book I will be able to say theres more sexual activity on daytime soaps(the ones that are left) than in here.

The Star Wars books are direct tie-in's to the Xbox game of the same name. They are also by Karen Traviss, who's written all of the Gears of War novels and even wrote the story for the third game so they should be a good read. I picked up the Penthouse disc because I am practicing phtography. Thats my story and I'm sticking to it:)

Don't get too jealous. All those free DS and 3DS games would have been alot more impressive if, you know, they had actual games in them. When I got to one of the yard sales this morning a woman had a bunch of games for various systems. I asked her how much the DS games were and she said $5 each but that she had to check them first because her grandson had taken some of them out to put in his carrying case. So she starts looking thru a few and she's throwing them on the ground after seeing that one by one the games are missing(her grandson decided he didn't need any of the cases). So I told her that if she was just going to throw them away I'd take them off her hands and she agreed. So I saved all these guys from going to the local landfill and thus helped the planet heal one small step at a time. It was worth it though since around half of them not only have manuals but also points cards. I'm still debating on rather to sell them individually or in lots.

I took a chance on the Sailor Moon dvds since I didn't know whats worth what. But they were the first dvds I've saw of them at Goodwill so I snatched them up. At worst I can always just include them in my Lunar plushie auction. I have never watched Avatar and don't give a rat's ass about 3D but I couldn't pass it up at that price. Unfortunately the dvd disc was missing so I'll have to watch it on my PS3. They also had Inception on bluray for $1. At first I felt bad for leaving it there but then I realized how badly that movie sucked so I did the right thing.

On a whim I decided to stay up past my early morning bed time (I work nights, and typicality go to bed by 4AM, which makes hitting the flea markets tricky) and drive a half-hour to a flea market I've heard talked about, the Mansfield Drive-In & Flea Market in South Eastern CT. I gotta say, it did not disappoint. And much more 'open air' then the other two Flea Markets closer to me. Which are both enclosed and have more permanent shops. Also it was a pretty big spread, and it drew a huge crowd. I'll definitely be going back again soon.

Here's my haul

http://img821.imageshack.us/img821/5421/mansfielddrivein1.jpg

Odama & Festers Quest were priced $2 each (Fester's Quest is a gift for a friend)
TMNT II The Arcade Game & Mighty Morphin Power Rangers were $4 together
Bomberman, Kings Quest V, & Ikari Warriors were priced $1, $2, & $3 respectfully, paid $5 for all three (I had no idea there even was a Kings Quest V for NES. And Konami did the port? WTF)
Megaman Zero & Megaman Battle Network 3: White were priced $5 each. Paid $7 for both
Pokemon Fire Red & Megaman Starforce Pegasus were $4 together (I have no idea what Megaman Starforce Pegasus is, I'm assuming a Battle Network spin-off)

I also randomly picked up a pair of vintage 70s girly mags on a whim because they were loaded with gorgeous drawn pin-ups and comic strips by some really talented artists (Dan Decarlo, Bill Ward, and Bill Wenzel to name a few). Got those for four bucks, and I think I've found something odd to hunt for at Flea Markets in the future.

So, in total I walked into the Flea Market with $40, and came out with $8. I think I did pretty good. I stayed strong and didn't over pay for a copy of Mario All-Star and Star Fox I wanted. Next time Gadget, Next Time!

Oh, and I forgot to mention. My biggest disappointment of the day was, I came upon a guy with a box full of Super Famicom games (and a handful of other Japanese edition games) for $7 a piece. There were some interesting games in there; Mario World, Chrono Trigger, a whole bunch of Gundam games. But because I had no idea the value of Super Famicom games I had to pass on them. I wish I hadn't had to, it would have been a huge windfall to jump start my Super Famicom collection but I just didn't know how actually rare or obscure any of it actually was.

Most Super Famicom games aren't worth much, even if they're complete. RPGs aren't worth near as much as the North American versions. You did well to pass on them, assuming there wasn't anything like Rendering Ranger in the box.

I wonder why pirates sometimes put an RP rating on their boxes and cartridges. Are they even trying to fool anyone?

For whatever reason many GBA and DS pirates try to look almost US. Rather than 100% copying, or trying to capture the look of other region versions. As if they purposefully want differences a smart user will spot.

If you can confirm it works i've been looking for a cheap import ps2 system to play a few games i've picked up recently, if you have any import ps1 games thats a good way to test it.

GIGANTIC game library. PS2 was heavily supported in Japan. Some 3000 games give or take, not even counting PS1 mode.

They're worth more for being so awesome to the right person. I'd try it out first!

What Stopped me from selling it on EBay was EBay does not have Model 30000 in their catalog and warned me that I have to add it to their catalog..
Seems now you have to send them and email through the link with info before listing..When I went to get the UPC on the unitI noticed the Japanese Seal and NTSC J

I left and went to a street fair..garage sales galore..
http://photobucket.com/STREETF
At the Garage Sale Spotted Lots of Games..but people think they can UP the price on junk and it’ll sell..
I did spot a big bin of atari 2600 games,After reading about Swordquest Waterworld I dug in..I found Swordquest Fireworld ..passed

Picked this up: $25.00 (new inside)

Special? Well it's from Japan so of course it's special. They are definitely worth more than US systems. A US fatty can get you upwards of $40 but a Japanese fatty can get you $100+. As usual you did well:wink 2:

EDIT: Just saw that PS2 stack of import titles. If you sell those games in a lot with the import system you could easily get $200-$400. Ca-ching!!!

Yeah you always want to look at the back of PS2's(or any system for that matter). They are worth much more than our US systems. In the past 2 years I have probably looked at the back of over 100 PS2 fatties at various Goodwill's, thrift stores and flea markets and still haven't found a Japanese one. Luckily I got a cheap slim on ebay but I still look for Japanese fatties. They are like buried treasures when you can find them.

Wondering about Xbox Systems..do they make them in Japanese,I see pal versions on ebay..
Xboxes I find a lot of: but I only look at them to see if I notice anything different(if black-dark green) like Debug Kit etc..when I found my green xbox Debug Kit system it was upside down under a stack of black xboxes..I collect the Halo Green Xboxes and thought it was one of them ..
$10.00 I bought it and paid no mind until I read the face later at home..next week I went back and that stack of xbox systems was gone..

I took more pictures of the imports and sealed games

I ALWAYS do with PS1 and 2 systems, you never know when you'll find a special one. I have found 2 pal PS1s, 2 NTSC-J PS1s, 2 NTSC-J PS2s, and 2 Debug PS2s in the past year.
Edit: I also do it to Gamecubes and Dreamcasts, never know when a broad band adapter might turn an overpriced piece of crap into your the best find all year, or in my case finding a pre-release demo unit.

I took more pictures of the imports and sealed games
http://photobucket.com/Ps2SEALIMPORT

Yes, there were JP XBOXes, they are rather rare as are the games. The system was rejected there. The XBOX actually has one of the highest percentages of release cancellations of any game system ever, mostly due to the abrupt death of the system pushing releases over to the PS2 and the unexpected outright rejection in the Japanese market. It actually had a strong planned lineup, too bad most of it was forgotten as most of them were rather interesting and never got ported.

Picked up a few things this weekend.

Went to a DAV and bought some Playstation games for 75¢ each:
SimTheme Park
Digimon World 2
007: The World is not Enough
Smurf Racer

I bought two Vtec systems that came with some Leap Frog cartridges (thrift store bundling is weird sometimes) several months ago as a curiosity on the quality and gameplay from these systems. I was disappointed and although they appear to have decent hardware powering the machines the games are just terrible and could definitely be improved. Perhaps there are a few well done games out there? I hauled the systems to my gaming event back in March and nobody wanted to set them up and showed no interest. I decided to finally trade them in and the credit came short $1 of what I paid and managed to grab:
Stargate (Genesis) CIB - $1 of trade-in
Serial Experiments Lain (complete box set) - $13 of tade-in

I was surprised about the Lain find. It was in great condition, likely sat safely on a shelf for a number of years. The wife has been seeking the full set so it's great to have all 4 volumes together, now time to sell/trade the ones we already had.

Off at another game store I traded in a few cheap duplicate games and got:
Wiz 'n' Liz (Genesis) CIB

Thank you..Thank you so so much..
I owe it to the bad weather on Sunday : )

I never look at the backs of PS2s I see at Flea Markets,If it's 45-$50 I step away Fast...I'm going to start looking at them better now.

Go Figure this PS2 has traveled with these vendors to different flea markets for weeks..

Tomorrow I'm going to test it out..

.................................................. .................
Yea : ).I was using the word special as someone told me there was nothing special about my white PS2..the word kinda stuck now. lol

What I'd consider is put the money toward a region mod US PS2. I myself own one, letting it direct boot US/JP/EU PS1 or PS2 from the disc tray.

Derp! That was me. I feel dumb about that, but at the time I was thinking 'nothing special' in that it isn't a developer system or prototype or the like. So, no extra capabilities.

Yeah, that was really necessary for them to do that. :) I actually got the tape off pretty easily; there were little lift-offs on the edges of the top flaps but overall minimal damage. I'd never seen that Goodwill packed like that, with the 2 2600 bundles w/ common carts and the NES and SNES games and all.

This is barely worth the post, but here we go:

Yesterday, I acquired a complete GH copy of Cars for the PS2 for free. However, the disc wouldn't play (which isn't too surprising seeing that it was pretty scratched up). Considering that it was free and that I have a disc only copy of the Xbox version, there's no big loss here. I'll use the case on a game that needs a replacement, and the insert and manual will be stashed away with my other orphans.

So yeah, it's been pretty dry for me. Oh well. More money for the Portland Retro Gaming Expo (http://www.retrogamingexpo.com) at the end of the month!

Holy crap some finds, finally!

I had to skip Monday because I had no money. :P I went there on Tuesday and picked up:

Diablo II Expansion Pack CD keys x2 (no discs, for trading)
Victor Vector & Yondo: The Vampire's Coffin (Mac / Win 3.1 CD - keeping)
Mario's Time Machine Deluxe OEM / Not For Rental in sleeve (Mac - keeping)
Abuse For Macintosh - keeping, unless it's worth something since it was made by Bungie?
Gadget (PC / Mac - keeping)
For $4

And I also picked up Flight Simulator X Deluxe Edition, sealed, for $5. That one's going to eBay.

Today, I found these:

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/dp-2012-09-05a.jpg
Michael Kamen - The Dead Zone Original Score (sealed), Coco Montoya - Ya Think I'd Know Better - $2 for both
SiN (Expert Software budget rerelease), Quake II (PS1), The Brand New Heavies (release with a bunch of extra songs), X Uprising - $2 for all :o
Dance Dance Revolution SuperNova / Beatmania Gamers Day 2006 Exclusive Sampler CD (new) - $1

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/dp-2012-09-05b.jpg

You Don't Know Jack
You Don't Know Jack Mock 2
Um Jammer Lammy
Red Vs Blue Seasons 1 and 2

For $5 total :o There were a few other PS1 games there but it was mostly EA Sports crap and Need For Speed games missing the disc. Red Vs Blue's discs are mint, but the packages are trashed... I've been curious about the series so why not grab the discs this cheap, right?

Game Dr. $4
Playstation Soundtracks Vol. 1 cd $7
Fifty Shades of Grey book 50 cents
Alan Wake Japanese import(360) $34
The Witcher 2: Assassin's of Kings(360) $10

Alan Wake and the PS soundtrack were bought online. I'm just hoping that Alan Wake will play on my 360. I know the regular and limited edition Japanese versions are region free but I couldn't find any confirmation for this one. I picked up the PS cd for the Heavy Rain tracks even though they aren't the best tracks from the game. The Game Dr will replace my current motorized one and I now have the first two books of the Fifty Shades trilogy. I'll have to read them soon. Those two were from Goodwill and the Witcher 2 was from online.

http://i494.photobucket.com/albums/rr306/THE-1-2-P/GEDC1860.jpg

Fifty Shades of Grey book $1.50
Fifty Shades II: Darker book $1.50
Superman figure 50 cents
Halo Magazine $10
BTAS: Phantasm figure $5
Sonic All Stars kart(missing Sonic) $2
Pokemon: Mystery Dungeon(GBA) $7.50
Pokemon: Sapphire(GBA) $7.50
Lindsay Lohan cd 75 cents
Medevil II(PS1) 50 cents
Bloody Roar(PS1) 50 cents
Ace Combat III Japanese import(PS1) $1
John Cena: Word Life dvd $1
Star Wars: Knights of The Old Republic II(Xbox) $4
Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast(Xbox) $4
Halo 3 Pack novels $1.50

I woke up really early tp hit the flea markets and yard sales today. The two Fifty Shades of Grey books(and the Sonic kart) were from Goodwill on the way back, the second time I've found the first two books in the last week(at different locations). Now if only I could find book III. The Superman figure and Ace Combat 3 were from a yard sale. Everything else was from a big community yard sale. I took the Xbox Star Wars games at their listed price but I talked the chic down selling the Pokemon games. It was nice to find them boxed but I still wanted a deal. She had some other N64 and Snes games but I passed on them, including Super Mario World since that never sells very quickly for me. The PS1 games were mixed in with a bunch of cheap cds, like the Lilo one. And I grabbed the Phantasm figure because it looked cool and I think it was once sought after. I didn't do too bad today and even finished up before the storms came in.

Isn't it generally a bad idea to use Disc Dr. on games? Luckily I didn't destroy anything EXTREMELY valuable (a Tekken 3, which probably isn't a big loss) and a Brave Fencer Musashi (:( but it was already scratched up when somehow the niece had gotten a hold of my case of PS1/PS2 games and jammed them into the VCR. Most of the other games seemed to have survived but not that.
I know that's a bigger loss than a Tekken, but at least it wasn't something super rare or expensive like Suikoden 2.)
I of course was much more careful after that about keeping the games out of reach.

I do not use it. It works by grinding away the layers of a disc until the scratch is no longer there. So after a while, that disc cannot be used.

Just got back from the Mansfield Drive-In (same place I went last week) Not quite as many bargain finds as last week, but I think I did okay.

http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/4306/mansfielddrivein2.jpg

$3 Zork Nemesis CIB (score of the week IMO. I love this game, very under rated for a variety of reasons. The same stall also had Starcraft and Warcraft III CIB, each also $3, I probably should have picked them up. But I didn't)
$5 Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic 3D Blast, Super Mario World (considering these are all games I wanted for my collection, I thought this was a hell of a score)
$1 Three 1970s era Analog Science Fiction & Science Fact magazines (I read Analog currently cause I'm a huge science fiction nut, I figured a little taste of 70s sci-fi for a buck couldn't hurt)

After those, things sort of dried up. I thought it was going to be a cheap weekend. But on my way back out I happened upon a stall that was opening up late. They had a pile of NES, Genesis, and Sega CD games, but the guy quoted me between $10 and 15 for any of them. I balked, and he said, and I quote "going for E-Bay prices". Yikes.

BUT THEN, he pulled out a pile of random video game consoles, including three Sega Genesiseseseseseses. One model 1 with a 32X, one model 3, and a model 1+Sega CD. With him pricing games so high, I was SHOCKED when he said 15 bucks for the Genesis + CD. Since I needed a Genesis anyway (I've been buying Sega games with no console to play them on for weeks) and have been curious about the Sega CD library, I figured it was too good to pass up. Got two controlers + all the hook ups (though RF, not AV) too. Also, picked up a AV Spliter, which is going to come in handy since my number of classic consoles is ballooning rapidly.

$15 Sega Genesis Model 1 + Sega CD
$2 Radio Shack AV Spliter

So, $26 over-all for the day. Got some games I wanted, a console I needed, and a console I wanted. Not too shabby I think.

If the Sega CD works that is worth $60+

I sell the Sega CD by itself for $80. With a console and a bundle? Easily over $100, considering that I charge $80 for a Model 2 bundle and that model isn't as desirable. He got a great deal and should have bought the other consoles too as I'm sure those were the same price or cheaper. Throw in another $10 or so if Dark Wizard is in good condition, even loose.

Makes me sad that I'm unable to go out right now. Hopefully once I get settled at my new house at the end of this month I can get back to my routine.

I've always used my motorized one just to get scratches out of game disc since I've never had one that was so scratched up it wouldn't play. But I have had dvds that would skip due to scratches and they were completely fixed by my old Game Dr. So I don't think I'll have any problems with this one either. It will either just be getting scratches off of game disc for cosmetic reasons or if I have a disc that no longer plays it will help to restore it. You're not really suppose to use these things on the same disc over and over again. You're just suppose to use them once to restore the disc and then either keep it or sell it in better condition than you received it in. Or atleast thats how I always viewed them.
