I been trying to find one for the past week. I been to EBs, microplays and other used game store with no luck. I was up at a flea market today and went to 3 vendors and no one had one. Sure there are brand new ones but they're bundled with headsets but I already got a headset and I don't have to drop 40 bucks on it.
Back before I got a 360 like a year ago, I was seeing these things everywhere. What happened?

A keyboard would be bulky and pointless IMO ill keep that in mind. Plus I like the look of the chatpad with the controller. Somewhat reminds me of a Atari Jaguar controller.

That's the only way I've seen them new at retail for a long time, in the XBox Live Gold Kit.

I like to plug it in and pretend I'm playing Jaguar.

We own two of them, and they're quite convenient. I like the form factor and the fact that the keys are backlit. Definitely worth getting if you got to enter lots of Xbox codes or if you like sending written messages to friends via Xbox Live.

I didn't know theyre backlit.I thought that was only done with a mod. I seen custom pads with different colour LEDs.
Trying to type out a sign in minecraft is a bitch when ysing the controller. This is the mainly reason I need one.

I know that alot of places have clearanced out the old white versions of the chat pad but there are newer black versions. However, as already mentioned those are usually bundled with other accessories. You might want to try Radio Shack, Sears, Kmart or TRU to see if they still have any left. If they do they will most likely be at clearance prices.

At the very least, the black chatpad is backlit. Dunno about the earlier white models.

I ended up with a 2nd chatpad by buying an Xbox Live starter kit on sale for $40 or so when I needed to re-up my subscription. In addition, got a spare copy of Project Gotham Racing 4 along with an extra headset for about what I'd pay at most online retailers just for a 12 month subscription card.
Keep an eye open for deals, assuming you're an Xbox Live subscriber and they still offer XBL Starter Kit bundles with the chatpad included. Might be able to get one for what amounts to essentially free just by doing a bit of looking around when it's time to add 12 more months to your account.

White models are backlit as well.

I've been addicted to the YouTube app the last few months. It wouldn't be nearly as nice without a chatpad attached to my controller.
I assume it also comes in handy elsewhere like with Netflix for entering search terms (Never actually subscribed myself). And it should be useful for the upcoming web browser.

You talking about the little addon for the bottom of the controller that has the keyboard? I may have one around here somewhere
